Institute of Management Development and Research was established in 1974 by late Padmashree Dr. Ramesh T Doshi and late Shri Sumatilal Shah. The college was established with a vision to be a community of students, staff and faculty, striving to have a vibrant learning process, which helps the students to discover themselves while being productive and creative. IMDR, Pune is a part of Deccan Education Society, which was established in 1884. 

Institute of Management Development and Research courses include PGDM. Various specializations are offered in the program. Candidates can apply online on the official website of the college. Institute of Management Development and Research has a library that aims to provide information to the students, faculty and management professionals. The library covers around 3570 sq. ft of land. It has a variety of reference sources from various disciplines. The library of IMDR, Pune has a collection of 17,409 books and references, 814 CDs, 245 DVDs, 21 thesis, 7272 article database, 1302 seminar reports/ working papers, 364 audio-visual cassettes, 50 journals and 8 English and 4 local language newspapers. It has subscribed to 25 foreign journals and 52 magazines

IMDR has a computer centre which has a resource room for conducting hands-on training and presentations. 120 computers with minimum PIV configuration and 2 servers. The centre has a 2 MBPS leased line connection for internet access which is available to the students via LAN and wifi on campus for 12 hours a day. IMDR has playgrounds of sister institutions like Fergusson College and BMCC. The college also has a table tennis room and a student's common room. The college also provides banking facilities to the students.

Institute of Management Development and Research Hostel Details: 

IMDR, Pune has various state of the art facilities. Institute of Management Development and Research facilities include separate hostel facilities for both boys and girls. The girls' hostel of the institute can accommodate 15 students. In the girls' hostel, 3 students can accommodate in each room. This hostel has rooms that have attached toilet and bathroom.
IMDR has 2 hostels for boys. The old boys' hostel can accommodate 34 students and the new boys' hostel can accommodate 15 students. These hostels provide basic amenities like electricity, table, chair and cot.
