The college began in a school building in Daryaganj, Central Delhi, with 299 students, 9 instructors, and 4 support staff in 1956 by the Late Lala Shri Ram in remembrance of his wife Phoolan Devi (Lady Shri Ram). The college is now built on a 5-acre (20,000 m2) site in South Delhi's Lajpat Nagar.

Library- The well-equipped and well-maintained Library at LSR, along with a computerised, user-friendly data filing system, is an important resource for any aspiring scholar. The LIBSYS computerised library management system is used in the library, and numerous terminals are available for students and teachers to use to search for books and research materials online.
Computer Lab - Students can conduct their inventive and scientific investigations in the college's well-equipped computer and statistics laboratory. Students enrolled in Mathematics, Statistics, Commerce, and the B.A. programs use the laboratories.
Health Care- A well-equipped medical room with two beds is available at the college. This medical facility has first-aid supplies, a wheelchair, and a blood pressure machine. It also has a nurse on campus to assist students with minor health concerns. In the event of an emergency, the students are either taken to a nearby hospital, or a doctor is summoned right away.
Sports Centre- The college has various sports teams: Athletics, Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Air Rifle Shooting, Air Pistol Shooting, Swimming, Volleyball, Squash and Judo.
