MUHS was established in the year 1998 and has more than 80 colleges affiliated to it. The University has an excellent infrastructure and is furnished with a library, laboratories, cafeteria, hostel and sports facilities. All public medical colleges in the state of Maharashtra are affiliated to the University and are accredited by the University Grants Commission and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The University also gives students industrial exposure in the fields of medicine.
MUHS Admissions are offered in UG, PG, PG Diploma, M.Phil and Ph.D in the fields of Medical, Ayurved, Dental, Homoeopathy, Nursing and other fields.
The Maharashtra University of Health Sciences with jurisdiction over the whole of the State of Maharashtra is authorised and incorporated on 3rd June 1998 for the purposes of ensuring proper and systematic instruction, teaching, training and research in modern medicine and Indian Systems of Medicine in the State of Maharashtra, and to have balanced growth in the medical sciences so also an uniformity in various courses in medical faculty in the State. Head Office is located at Vani-Dindori Road, Mhasrul, Nashik.

To secure admission at MUHS, the candidates must first download the application form issued by the university. The university will notify students regarding the entrance examination dates. All students must write the entrance examination, in order to seek admission. The results for the entrance test will be made available on the official website. A merit list is released, comprising the names of all the candidates who have qualified for the entrance examination.
While the institution administers admission exams for some degrees, candidates must take national entrance exams like NEET UG and NEET PG for others. Merit-based admission is also used for some courses. Candidates must first apply through NTA in order to be considered for admission to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences Nashik through national-level entrance exams like NEET UG, NEET PG, and NEET MDS. After qualifying, seats are distributed according to NEET counseling. The MUHS website is where students must apply for other university-based entrance tests.

MUHS has not yet released the NEET cutoff for 2025. MUHS Nashik requires applicants for undergraduate and graduate programs to take the NEET UG and NEET PG exams, respectively to be eligible.

MUHS has collaborated with many globally renowned universities to promote the commonly propitious transfer of knowledge. Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is meant to foster increased interaction among faculty and graduate students interlocked in areas of mutual interest. In support of this endeavour, each institution will improve the exchange of research personnel, especially young faculty and advanced graduate students, for short periods of time so that they may become familiar with the facilities, methodologies, research culture and particular areas of focus of the other institution.
