Narasinha Dutt College was established in 1924 at Howrah in the residential building of Late I.R. Belilious. The institute of higher education is affiliated to the University of Calcutta. The institute has been recognized by UGC (University Grants Commission) in 2015, awarded ‘B’ grade by NAAC(National Assessment and Accreditation Council). The college bears the motto: “Jnanat Prataram Nahi” (There is no higher attainment than knowledge). The college is located in Belilious Road, adjacent to the Belilious Park, in the industrial heartland of the city of Howrah.
Presently, the college in its three sections (Morning, Day & Evening) offers U.G. courses (Hons. & Gen.) in 18 subjects of Arts, Science & Commerce as well as 2 self-financed P.G. courses in Mathematics and English. Entrance Exams & Admissions : Eligibility criteria were 60% which is quite moderate. After that admission procedure is not so hard; after proper documentation, we can easily step into the college.
Placements & Internships : I am getting stipend of rupees 5000 in Hotel Management Course; looking forward to completing my MBA course also.
Fees & Scholarships : The course fee is nearly about 22,000 per year; many scholarships are available in the market now, Like Kanyashree, Akhyashree, student credit card scheme.
Academics & Faculty : The time is 9:00 Am to 3:00 pm. The quality and method of teaching are Well, and the college experience is really fabulous.
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : Two hostels each for boys and girls. Yes, PG is available. Food quality is also very good, And every classroom has a very neat appearance.
Clubs & Associations : We do play sports and inside games with friends. Life in college is like grown-up kids. We can say just one step ahead from school to college.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Hi. I got admission in 2015. The eligibility criteria is a student should have a minimum of 50% marks in 12th Board or equivalent. First, you need to fill up the online form, then the college release a merit list. Selected candidates usually having 60% and above. Then you need to book your seat on the dates provided online. You need to pay the fees in the college bank. There is no admission test in this college for Bachelor degree courses.
Placements & Internships : I am sorry but I don't think that there is a placement system provided in our college.
Fees & Scholarships : College fees are nearly INR 5,000 per annum. Loans are not needed in our college. I am not sure about the scholarship in this college. There are concessions in college fees for SC, ST, OBC and financially challenged students.
Academics & Faculty : There are 3 shifts a day. Morning 7 am to 12 noon, then 10 am to 2.30 pm, and 3 pm to 7 pm. Professors here are very helpful. They treat students very carefully. The study material provided by the college is good. The library has a huge collection of text, reference books. There is only one test before university exams every year. Overall experience in college is not bad. Academically this college is one of the famous colleges in Howrah city.
