Inaugurated in the year 2010  along with ten other NIT’s, NIT Arunachal Pradesh aims in providing excellent education in the field of technology to the students. The institute started functioning under the mentorship of NIT, Durgapur. After 2011 the first permanent Director Prof. (Dr.) Chandan Tilak Bhunia took over the responsibility and charge.NIT, Arunachal Pradesh is currently having a temporary campus at Yupia at Papumpare district. The permanent campus is under construction at Jote, which is in Papumpare district. The area is surrounded by thick forest and mountains, which provides a perfect learning and teaching environment.

The college holds an impressive placement record. 73.9% of the students from the Computer Science & Engineering department got placed in 2019, followed by Electronics & Communication Engineering with a placement percentage of 53.33%. 

National Institute of Technology, [NIT] Infrastructure:

NIT, Arunachal Pradesh has a permanent campus under construction which falls under Jote at Papumpare district. The college has a campus at Yupia at Papumpare district,  which offers all the basic amenities to the students. Regular health care checkups are conducted where trained medical staff attend and conduct check-ups. The college recently constructed a spectacular auditorium completely made out of bamboo, located at Yupia campus. They have named it the Technology Advanced Learning Center [TALC]. This is used for conducting various indoor meetings, workshops, conference and Faculty Development Programs [FDP]. NIT, Arunachal Pradesh provides general and medical facilities to the students. General Facilities include 24*7 water, electricity and food supply. The institute is wifi enabled and can be accessed from any point within the campus. The central library was established in 2010. As of now, the central library holds up to 33,000+ books, 4584+ number of titles, 35 number of Journals and some magazines. The library also has xerox and printing facilities are available on a payment basis.
