Trauma Services
Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedics is a pioneer centre for the management of polytrauma cases and complex surgeries. The OTs are equipped with higher end philips C-Arm with modern orthopaedic OT table. The surgeries are undertaken for Acetabular and Pelvis fracture fixation, failed and neglected fracture operations, management of non union and limb lengthening by Illizarov external fixator etc.
Spine Services
The centre is equipped with operating microscope and endoscope for the management of spinal trauma, Back ache, Spinal deformities, specialized surgeries like Endoscopic Discectomy, Scoliosis correction, Microscopic cervical discectomy, Anterior and Posterior spinal instrumentation are done.
Arthroplasty Centre
Primary and revision joint replacements (hip, knee ) are done regularly.
Hand Reconstrictive Surgery
Hospital is equipped with operating microscope to do all micro surgical hand surgeries and undertake replantation of amputated limbs.
Sports Medicine
All types of ligament injuries and joint injuries are done using modern state of art arthroscope and arthroscopic equipments.
Paediatric Services
Paediatric Orthopaedic speciality is well established. Deformity correction, paediatric injuries are managed.
Operation Theatre
The Institute has 5 spacious OTs and 3 more OTs are being readied. All types of trauma, orthopaedic, Spine surgeries, Plastic surgery, Neuro surgery and Urology are handled by the dedicated anaesthetists, well trained OT Staff, and paramedical Staff. OTs have efficient autoclaving techniques for maintaining aseptic precautions and top class surgical, anaesthetic equipments. ICU is located adjacent to OT.
Intensive Care Unit
The Institute has a fully air conditioned 16 bedded ICU. It is totally equipped with Ventilators, Multi channel monitors, Pulse oximeters, Syringe pumps and Defibrillators for continuous care of patients. In house Blood Gas and Electrolyte analysers are available. Patient friendly polymer molded comfort beds, presence of 24 hour intensivists cover and well trained ICU Nursing and Paramedical staff make it to handle any kind of trauma, emergencies and postoperative care. As it is situated very next to major operation theater, transportation of patients is very easy.
Wards
The Institute has an exclusive post operative ward to monitor patients in post operative period. It has all equipments needed for continuous monitoring of patients. The Institute has general wards, 4 bedded special ward, 2 bedded ward and also deluxe ward to cater to all categories of patients. It has separate wards for Facio-maxillary department, Plastic surgery departments.
Medical Records Departments
All the outpatient and inpatient medical records since the beginning of Institute (1984) have been well maintained to help in Medico-legal aspects. Special efforts are taken to preserve all Medico-legal records. The records are being computerized in a phased manner.
Artificial Limb Centre
The Institute has 2 orthotists and 1 leather technician who run the artificial limb centre. The centre provides the needy patients with Artificial limbs, Spinal arthrosis, Calipers (AFO, KAFO) foot drop splints, braces and LS belts at a low cost.
Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD)
The Institute has an exclusive Central Sterile supply Department which caters to the requirements of the in patients wards and outpatient department. Separate Autoclaves are provided for the needs of major operation theaters.
Laundry Section
The Institute has a well equipped Laundry services. It is well equipped with a large capacity laundry washing machine, Hydro extractor and tumbler dryer.
House Keeping And Security
These have been outsourced. They maintain cleanliness and security of Institute.
Facilities Available
Ambulance Services : Hospital has a brigade of 6 ambulances which are well equipped to shift accident victims from the site to hospital. All are fitted with transport ventilator.

Spacious waiting area, TV at all waiting areas, all types of wards, Vehicle parking facility and utilities, Separate male and female rest rooms are available to patients and their attenders. Receptionists and Counter people are helpful and guide the patients and attenders to receive best care possible. Arrangement for funds to poor and needy patients from Government and other philanthropists are made.
Trauma Centre
The Health sector of 12th Finance commission has sanctioned a plan to have a network of fully equipped trauma centers throughout the country. Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedics is apex Institute in Karnataka for trauma care. A dedicated trauma centre is available with equipped casualty department, operating room and observation ward.
