Shivaji College was established in 1961 at Matiala by Honourable Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh. The College is under Delhi Government’s trusteeship. The government of Delhi shifted the college to Karampura and then further shifted to the present location in Raja Garden in 1976. The present location of the college enables the students to travel from different parts of NCR through metro and buses. Even though the college is surrounded by a busy city, the campus is covered with lush greenery and a peaceful environment. The campus is a green zone and the college undertakes so many measures and practices on the campus like bans on plastic, smoking, and entry of vehicles. 

Shivaji College courses include 21 undergraduate, 3 postgraduate, and 2 add-on courses. Shivaji College Delhi is affiliated to the University of Delhi. Shivaji College is now a premier institution and was ranked as one of the top 10 science colleges in India by India Today. National Assessment and Accreditation Council accredited Shivaji College with an “A” grade. The college has been ranked 49th in the colleges category by NIRF 2024.

Shivaji College facilities include a library, laboratories, auditorium, bank, cafeteria, sports facilities, medical facilities, stationery stores. College has Co-curricular activities like the National Cadet Corps and National Service Scheme and various clubs and societies like Eco-club, Women Development Cell, Alumni Club, Cultural Society, and many other societies.

Shivaji College Facilities:

Shivaji College provides facilities like well-furnished classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, library, auditorium, canteen, sports facilities, bank, medical facilities and stationery shops.

Library of Shivaji Collge has a collection of more than 72800 books on various disciplines. The collection includes reference books, encyclopedias, yearbooks, dictionaries, biographies, autobiographies and many other titles on different topics. The library is subscribed to 48 magazines and newspapers. Apart from the book collection, there is a large collection of e-books and e-journals.  There are about 6000 e-journals and 97000 e-books. The library has facilities like 2 air-conditioned reading halls, braille books, and computers with internet access.

The classrooms are well furnished and are equipped with projectors for the audiovisual system. The laboratories in the college are well equipped and are modernised. The computer labs have computers with latest configuration and high-speed internet access. 

Shivaji College canteen is a place where the students unite to have some leisure time and to have some snacks or meals. The canteen provides healthy and hygienic food at reasonable rates. Apart from the main canteen, there are kiosk of Mother Diary Booth and Bru cafeteria. 

The auditorium at Shivaji College is air-conditioned and has a seating capacity of 400 people. The auditorium is equipped with audio-visual systems and lights and sound systems. Auditorium is used for various cultural functions, seminars, workshops, and various other programs conducted by the clubs and societies in the college. 

Shivaji College has the largest playground of all colleges of Delhi University. The sports department provides facilities for playing games like cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, athletics and indoor games like table tennis, chess and caroms. Students participate in various inter-college and inter-university tournaments.

Shivaji College provide medical facilities to its students. There is a WUS Health Centre on the campus that provide primary health care for students and staff. 

A branch of Central Bank of India is functioning inside the campus for the benefit of students and staff. Students and staff could use the bank for all sorts of banking purposes. The campus also has 2 photocopy shops and 1 stationery store. 

Shivaji college offers residential facility for both teaching and non-teaching staffs inside the campus.
