Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University is a State University recognized under Section 2 (f) & 12 (B) of the UGC Act of 1956 was established in 1999 as a fully residential and technical university, the first of its kind in J&K. 

Recognized by UGC, the university receives funding from UGC. The university ranked 26th among Architecture Institutions, 101-150 among Engineering Institutions, and 151-200 among top Universities in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF 2023) declared by the MHRD, Govt. of India.

SMVDU University, Katra has a land of 470 acres on which there is a well-built SMVDU campus fulfilling all the requirements. SMVDU Infrastructure Facilities provide bus facilities for the students from campus to/from the hostel for the convenience of the students. Special bus facilities for the faculty & staff members and their families are provided every Saturday from campus to Jammu and back.  SMVDU Medical Aid Centre provides services to all the students of the University. Facilities provided by the Medical Aid Centre include OPD, a Dental Unit, an Ambulance Service, etc. SMVDU guesthouse facility is available with 15 rooms and 4 suites to accommodate guests. SMVDU Central Library of the University is a specialized technical library.

Rajasthan Technical University provides various scholarships such as - 

Scholarships based on performance in Competitive Exams awarded at the time of admission (Applicable for B.Tech. / B.Arch. / MBA) - 

Note - *The student must maintain a minimum CGPA of 7.50 with no backlogs in each semester for continuation of scholarship in all the above cases.*

There are several other scholarship programs as well, like scholarships based on performance in semesters, the Student Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme (SMMSS), which is applicable to all UG, PG, and Integrated programs, the Shakti-Jolly Family Scholarship Scheme for Meritorious Girl Students, and the Research Assistantship Programme. Complete details are mentioned below.

Note-  SMMSS: The scholarship is based on merit and financial background. Students from a poor background (family income ≤ Rs. 2,00,000) with a high CGPA can receive 100% assistance. To continue the scholarship, students must maintain high academic standards (CGPA and SGPA of 8.50 or higher). Shakti-Jolly Scholarship: Exclusively for the top two B.Tech. female students based on SGPA, providing substantial financial support for their studies. M.Tech. Scholarships: Offered to students with GATE scores, providing monthly stipends and requiring academic assistance for the university. Condition - - 8 hours per week academic support required M.Sc. Biotechnology (DBT): Students in this program receive stipends as per DBT and university guidelines. Ph.D. Scholarships: Offered based on UGC-NET/GATE/SMVDU Ph.D. entrance qualifications, with monthly stipends and contingency allowances for research students. - Condition - Must maintain progress as per Ph.D. ordinance. The contingency of Rs. 12,000/- for the first two years, and Rs. 25,000/- for the third year.

SMVDU Faculty members are extremely helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. SMVDU has 120+ faculty members. The best part about SMVDU is that students can contact faculty members 24 hours a day, seven days a week because both students and teachers live on the same campus. SMVDU students can easily clear their doubts and interact with them in both formal and informal settings. SMVDU's teaching methods are both advanced and friendly. Each SMVDU faculty member is assigned five students, and the faculty member serves as a mentor for all those 5 students, with whom the students can discuss personal and professional problems and situations. SMVDU faculty organize monthly industrial visits for students to gain industrial experience.
