St Joseph's College, Devagiri, was established in the year 1956 and visualized by the CMI congregation. The college is affiliated to the University of Calicut. It has been imparting quality education for the last 61 years as one of the most prestigious Arts & Science Colleges in Malabar.

St Joseph's College Devagiri, Calicut was recognized as a "College with Potential for Excellence" by the University Grants Commission in 2010 and reaccredited by NAAC as Grade A with CGPA of 3.63 on a four-point scale in 2011. The college was declared as an Autonomous College by the UGC in 2014. In 2016, the college was re-accredited by NAAC as the first college to be awarded A++ grade in the Country with a CGPA of 3.76 on a four-point scale.

At present Devagiri College has 2100 students, 112 teaching staffs and 34 non-teaching staffs. The college provides a computerized library with more than 65,000 books, journals, and periodicals.
