The courses offered at the Kashmir University are affordable and of high quality in the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir. The affordable fee structure of Kashmir University has been a boon for students coming from various financial backgrounds.
Furthermore, students from various financial backgrounds can avail of scholarship facilities provided by the University. However, as per the student's reactions, the scholarship facility at Kashmir University is very rigid, and only a few students will get the benefits of scholarships.
One of the main reasons for students to study at Kashmir University is its experienced and highly qualified faculty. More than 500 faculty members at Kashmir University are experts in their respective subjects. Highly qualified faculty are approachable and friendly, which helps students to have great interactions to clarify their doubts.
However, the University lacks faculties with industry experience for some major courses like MCA and MBA. Though the syllabus is according to the current industrial requirements, Kashmir University needs industry experience faculties to make more of an impact on students. In turn, these industry-experienced faculties will help in bringing companies for placements.
Kashmir University has had its legacy for seven decades and is well known for its pleasing infrastructure. With each passing year, the infrastructure of Kashmir University has been developed as per the trend. The classrooms have digital board facilities, Wi-Fi connectivity, and well-furnished chairs and benches.
Kashmir University has a well-established central library with a huge collection of books and journals. Additionally, each department of the University has a specified library related to a specific subject.
The University provides hostel facilities for both boys and girls. The hostel is Wi-Fi enabled and under CCTV surveillance to ensure the safety of the students. The University's mess is decently good and hygienic.
Kashmir University provides decent hostel facilities for both boys and girls separately. There are 2-sharing, 3-sharing, and 4-sharing rooms for students to accommodate. The hostel has common bathrooms and toilets, which are well-maintained.
Kashmir University hostel is affordable and provides students with beds, safety lockers, study tables, chairs, and other basic amenities. The hostel committee allots rooms to students according to certain prescribed norms.
Based on the admissions, the hostel committee will provide rooms to students. The rooms are distributed based on the courses. Students must sign a hostel policy document and adhere to the rules and regulations mentioned.
Placements at Kashmir University are a big matter of concern among the students. There are almost no placements provided for a few courses at the University. Though the University provides good internship opportunities, the final placement is not satisfactory. Only a few students belonging to PhD get placed annually.
As per the previous years, only PhD, MBA, and MSc BioChemistry students have been placed through University placements with an average package of 4.5L. The University offers no placements for undergraduate degrees whatsoever.
Students pursuing undergraduate degrees at the University often search for jobs outside college placements. As per the student's opinion, currently, there is no placement training provided, and students must be self-sufficient to get a job outside.
Life at Kashmir University is exuberant and joyous. As the University attracts students from various parts of the state and the country, one can find diversity on the campus. University has no strict dress code and no uniforms for any courses.
Students must maintain 75% of attendance in order to appear for the semester examinations. However, students often feel that the attendance policy at Kashmir University is very lenient.
Student-centric clubs conduct various activities throughout the academic year. However, students are often disappointed as there are very few cultural activities held on the campus. Alum students are of the opinion that they had the best time on campus during their study days as the University does not impose any strict rules and regulations.
Apart from the well-planned infrastructure, Kashmir University also has 2 sports grounds, indoor sports facilities, an auditorium, a canteen, medical facilities, and more.
To pursue their degree and not worry much about the placements, Kashmir University is a go-to option for students. Being one of the oldest universities in the country, Kashmir University provides a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Being a good place for learning, Kashmir University fails to provide placements. Students of Kashmir University claim that campus life is enjoyable and they had the best days of their lives.
