About HPU MAT

Himachal Pradesh University Management Aptitude Test (HPU MAT) is a state-level entrance examination for admission to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at the Himachal Pradesh University Business School (HPUBS).

Grandiosity: Himachal Pradesh University Business School has a great history of 30 years. It was earlier known as the Himachal Pradesh Institute of Management Studies and was established in the year 1971. It is located in Summer Hill a few Kilometers away from the Beautiful Town of Shimla.

HPU MAT Conducting Body: Himachal Pradesh University Business School (HPUBS) has the authority to conduct HPU MAT every academic year.

Level: HPU MAT is a university-level entrance examination for candidates looking for admission into different management courses.

Frequency: HPU MAT is conducted once every academic year which allows candidates to take admission in various MBA courses.

Seat Allotment: HPUBS allots 120 seats in total for students to take admission for MBA courses out of which 60 seats are for the General category while 60 seats are for Reserved category candidates.

HPU MAT Eligibility Criteria 2025

Before proceeding to fill out the HPU MAT Application Form 2025, the candidates must ensure that they fulfil the HPU MAT eligibility criteria. HPU MAT eligibility conditions to appear for the entrance test are as follows

Candidates should have passed a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ ST candidates). Students appearing for the final year are also eligible to apply if they submit proof of graduation before admission.

HPU MAT 2025 Age Limit

The upper age limit for male candidates is 26 years whereas for Females it is 28 years as of Jul 1, 2025. For SC/ST category candidates the age limit is 29 years (for both Males and Females) as of Jul 1, 2025. HPU has exempted the age limit bar for PwD candidates. Please note that the percentage of disability should be according to the standard norms of state government and central government.

HPU MAT Exam Pattern 2025

Candidates who have planned to appear for the MBA entrance exam are advised to prepare for the HPU MAT exam as per the HPU MAT exam pattern 2025. HPU MAT 2025 exam carries 200 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and the Question paper is divided into four major sections - Business Environment, Reasoning, Arithmetic, and English Language & Comprehension.

HPU MAT Exam Centres 2025

HPU MAT 2025 exam will be conducted in the following 8 cities of Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh University Business School (HPUBS) reserves the right to adjust the date/centre of the entrance examination. HPU MAT Counselling 2025

After the successful declaration of results, the next process in the course of the HPU MAT procedure will be the conduction of counselling. The students who have qualified for the selection procedure of HPU MAT shall be able to sit for this process. Candidates who are shortlisted as per the cut off will be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview Round. Candidates will get admission after clearing all three rounds. Every round has its own weight. A candidate is suggested to prepare carefully in all aspects of the HPU MAT Selection Process 2025.

After completion of the HPU MAT second and third rounds, Candidates will get call letters/merit lists of each college participating in HPU MAT. Candidates will have to submit the documents and fee against the Admission Process and First Semester. The fee submission must be done in the stipulated time, or else the seat allotment will become void.

HPU MAT candidates who are availing any benefit of Category, or Quota, must produce their original papers such as Caste Certificate, Sports Certificate, PwD Certificate, etc, along with a xerox of the same.
