IELTS 2023 eligibility criteria is prescribed by the conducting body. To appear for the exam, the candidate must meet the IELTS eligibility criteria test. IELTS exam is a compulsory exam for admission into universities and training programs in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.

IELTS 2023 Eligibility Criteria

There are no specific IELTS exam eligibility criteria set by any of the bodies conducting the examination. However, the selection procedures vary among the different universities/ organizations. Hence, the candidate should be aware of the individual application/ eligibility criteria for each of the universities/ organizations.

  • Planning to emigrate to Australia/ Canada/ New Zealand.
  • Planning to work in Australia/ UK/ USA.
  • Planning to study in Australia/ Canada/ New Zealand/ UK/ USA.

IELTS Age Limit

The general criteria for taking the exam are that the candidate wishing to take an IELTS exam should be at least 16 years old at the time of appearing for the exam. The candidate must also have a valid Passport. There is no IELTS maximum age limit for the candidates.

IELTS Age Limit for Canadian Citizenship

The minimum age criteria are relaxed for language requirements for Canadian citizenship. A few changes were recently introduced in the Citizenship Act of Canada. The minimum age requirement of the applicants to prove their language proficiency for Canadian Citizenship has been relaxed.

Applicants who belong to the age group of 14 - 64 years and wish to move to Canada will have to meet the language requirements set by the Citizenship and Immigration of Canada (CIC). The version of IELTS you need to take differs based on the purpose. For education, IELTS Academic is recommended whereas work and immigration demand IELTS General.
