OBC Reservation in NEET 2024 - AIQ, State Quota

OBC Reservation in NEET 2024 helps aspirants with seat reservations. The candidates are beneficial to 27% OBC & 10% EWS reservations under 15% AIQS in the NEET counselling process. OBC Reservation in NEET 2024

MCC and NTA have published the new OBC Reservation in NEET 2024. The guidelines for new OBC Reservation in NEET 2024are mentioned below:

• They benefit the 2700 OBC and 550 EWS candidates
• At the time of NEET 2024 counselling rounds, aspirants must fill their respective categories to benefit from the OBC-NCL reservation
• During the NEET 2024, students must make sure that the required documents are handy. Otherwise, the students will not be taken as eligible candidates for the OBC Reservation in NEET 2024.
• OBC-NCL aspirants get the benefit of a 27% reservation under OBC Reservation in NEET 2024 by getting admitted to MBBS and BDS colleges

OBC Criteria Under AIQ

OBC refers to the other backward classes. More guidelines by NTA on OBC Reservation in NEET 2024 are mentioned below:

• Candidates need to check the central list of OBCs to be sure if they can avail the benefit of OBC reservation in NEET 2024 or not.
• Each state mentions the castes which are considered OBC.
• Only the aspirants who fall into the category of the non-creamy layer will be applicable under the OBC quota in AIQ seats.
• Creamy layer OBC aspirants won’t be able to avail the benefits of the newly introduced quota of OBC reservation in NEET 2024.
• For the non-creamy layer to avail of the benefit of OBC reservation in NEET 2024, the candidate’s parent's income should be less than Rs 8 lakh per year.
• Candidates of the OBC category must have a certificate which is issued by Tahsildar in the district of the state.

NEET Reservation for 15% AIQ Seats

The NEET’s reservation policy is of great help to the students. NEET’s revised 15% AIQS seats are mentioned below:

• The GOI has introduced 27% OBC-NCL and 10% EWS reservations in 15% AIQS MBBS and BDS seats. It is in effect from 2021-22 academic sessions.
• The government of India also published the notice for reserving 5 MBBS seats under the central pool for covid-19 warriors. Colleges offering those five seats are JLN Medical college Ajmer, MGIMS Wardha, LHMCC, Jabalpur, and GMC Haldwani.

NEET Reservation Categories

NEET Reservation for 85% State Quota Seats

NTA has 85% of state quota seats. More information on state quota seats is given below:

• The merit list is published under the state quota, 85% of the seats are completed and evaluated separately by every state/Union Territory
• Aspirants should check with their respective state counselling authority to be aware of the dates and methods for the same
• Candidates should check the dates and the process for NEET state-wise counselling
• Admission through state quota is subjected to the eligibility criteria and reservation policy available in the State or Union Territory where the student seeks admission

NEET Reservation 2024: 15% AIQ Seats

15% All India Quota Seats are made for Indian Nationals, NRIs, OCI, PIO, and Foreign Nationals are eligible. More information on 15% AIQ is mentioned as follows:

• To be admitted via AIQ, candidates have to take part in online counselling for NEET 2024 conducted by MCC.
• Counselling rounds are organised and after their results, if any seats remain vacant under AIQ, they are converted into the state quota seats.
• Names in the merit list are equal to the number of AIQ seats obtainable.
• Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will also now participate in 15% All India Quota Counselling and do not need the submission of a self-declaration form.

Documents Required for OBC Reservation in NEET 2024

All the aspirants who have applied for seats under the different reserved categories need to produce the related documents announced by NTA. This is required to validate their claim for seat reservation. Failing to do this, they may be debarred from counselling and the seat allotment process. Other Categories for Reservation in NEET 2024

There are other reservations in NEET 2024 available for the aspirants. Aspirants must add their category carefully while filling out the NEET application form. The other categories available for reservation in NEET 2024 are mentioned below:

• Previously mentioned criteria under 15% AQI seats. They are eligible only for admissions to national institutes or central universities.
• The TN government has approved the proposal of a 7.5% reservation for the candidates who are from government schools in TN state medical colleges after qualifying for NEET.
• Terror attack victims like spouses and children also have a special chance to reserve for MBBS and BDS admissions. These seats are reserved under the central pool of seats for medical admissions.
• Aspirants of Union Territories should sign a self-declaration form while filling in their application form for NEET 2024 to avail of the reservation benefits.
