Kerala BTech Admission Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for Kerala BTech admission involves academic performance along with categorizing candidates into two groups, namely Keralite and Non-Keralite (Category I & Category II), based on their domicile. The minimum eligibility requirements, broken down by student category, are explained below.

Eligibility Criteria Based on Academic Background

  • Kerala B.Tech applicants must have at least 50% in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Biology, or Biotechnology in Class 12.
  • Admission under the government quota and fee concession category is open to those who have earned a 50% or above in 12th grade.  
  • Only private engineering institutions will accept applicants for admission under the government quota with grades between 45% and 49% in Class 12. 

Eligibility Criteria for Keralite:

  • These students must have completed their 12th education in Kerala.
  • Keralite students are liable to state government reservation laws and government quota seats.
  • The regulations for tuition waivers apply to students in the Keralite group.

Eligibility Criteria for Non - Keralite (Category I)

  • The non-Keralite category includes candidates who have completed their 12th grade in Kerala and whose parents are not from Kerala but are employed by the government of India or the armed forces.
  • This group also includes non-Kerala candidates who attended Class VIII to XII in Kerala.
  • The non-Keralite category will be applied to a candidate who lived in Kerala for at least five years.
  • Non-Keralite students are not eligible for communal reservation/special reservation/fee discount or state merit list consideration.

Eligibility Criteria for Non - Keralite (Category II)

  • Those not fitting into the first two categories will be considered category 2 Non-Keralite candidates.
  • After the first two groups have been admitted, these students will be allowed to enrol if there are still vacant seats in the private institutions.
  • Private engineering institutions' 10% management quota is open to these students.

The Kerala BTech counseling may only be completed online, and applicants may apply for admission. Qualified applicants will be assigned seats via counseling based on the KEAM rank list, the marks, and the availability of seats at a specific college.
