Government Engineering College, Thrissur is one of the most prestigious institutions in Kerala. It was started in 1957 and affiliated to the University of Calicut and APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University(KTU). The college campus is spread over an area of 75 acres and located at Ramavarmapuram. Besides the regular B-Tech courses, the college also offers a Post-graduate Course in Computer Applications (MCA), and Postgraduate programs in various subjects. The college is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Council of Architecture (COA) and programs are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The candidates seeking GEC admission in B.Tech need to appear in the national level entrance exam Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main)entrance. The college has 47447.57 sq.m. of built-up area for academic and administrative purposes and houses facilities for arts, sports, and games.
