2. Read Everything Thoroughly Before

The preparation of notes must come naturally to the student and not as a compulsion to enhance preparation for the examination. Students must make sure that before making the notes for any particular topic, they must have gone through that topic multiple times.

Only after knowing the topic from top to bottom and with the utmost scrutiny will the student be able to identify what is important to note down for future reference and revision and what can be omitted. The preparation of notes might begin when a student begins their preparation, in the middle of a student’s preparation, or a student might even start making notes for revision at the end of their preparation. Something that is overlooked by the majority of the students whilst in the middle of their preparations for NEET UG or any other competitive exam is the ignorance of their own mistakes. NEET is a national-level entrance exam known to be one of India's toughest and most competitive exams.

Therefore, for students to even hope to be included in the merit list of NEET UG, they need to make sure that their preparation, their knowledge and their accuracy, everything is at their peak when appearing for the examination. This can only be achieved when a student knows what to follow and make sure to do and when they also know what to avoid and not to do.

5. Avoid Copying/Borrowing Notes

A common phenomenon amongst candidates when preparing for an examination, copying notes or borrowing notes from friends, colleagues and other sources can turn out to be a recipe for disaster for a student. Notes are a very personal tool and as mentioned earlier are very subjective in nature, what might be important to note for someone might be totally irrelevant for another person. Some useful tips that students should follow to make their NEET UG notes more well-designed and practical are:

• When making notes, be sure to use a material that can be easily carried and stored and is consistent. A student can either use separate A4 sheets and bind them or use readymade notebooks, whichever is preferred.
• Make sure to highlight important parts of topics and sub-topics for better preparation. Use of highlighters and coloured pens (besides black/blue) is advisable.
• Make sure to make your notes as personal as possible, and upgrade your notes from time to time. Do not copy from textbooks or other study material when making notes.
• Make sure to note down common mistakes within your notes. This will help in avoiding such mistakes in the future.
• Refer to school or tuition notes from before when preparing notes for NEET UG. Important points from class lectures and teachers should also be included in the NEET notes.
