1. All India Common Entrance Examination (AICEE)
All India Common Entrance Examination (AICEE) or All India Common Entrance Test (AIEET) is a national-level veterinary entrance exam conducted for different postgraduate courses every year for admissions in veterinary colleges in India.
Eligibility Criteria:
The eligibility criteria involved for admission to veterinary colleges based on the AICEE examination are as follows:
- The candidate must be a citizen of India.
- The candidate must be above 17 years while filling out the application form.
- The candidate must have passed 12th in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as their compulsory subjects.
- The candidate must have scored above 50% in the general category and above 45% in the reserved category in their 12th.
- The candidates who are appearing for the 12th examination are also eligible to apply for the AICEE examination.
Exam Pattern:
The examination pattern being followed in the AICEE exam is listed below.
- The examination is conducted at the national level.
- The exam duration is 3:30 hours.
- The examination consists of 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
- Each question carries 1 mark.
- The total mark for the examination is 200.
- There is no negative marking.
2. JNU Combined Biotechnology Entrance Exam (JNU CEEB)
Jawaharlal Nehru University Combined Entrance Examination for Biotechnology and various postgraduate courses is a university-level veterinary Science entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The JNU CEEB examination is conducted once a year.
Eligibility Criteria:
The eligibility criteria for the JNU Combined Biotechnology Entrance Exam have been shared below.
- The candidate must have completed a bachelor’s from a recognized university in Biological, Physical, Veterinary, and Fishery Science, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Engineering/ Technology, 4 years B.Sc (Physician Assistant Course), or Medicine or BDS
- Candidates must have scored 50% in their bachelorette.
- Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination are eligible to apply for the JNU CEEB examination.
Exam Pattern:
The examination pattern being followed in the Jawaharlal Nehru University Combined Entrance Examination for different courses has been shared below.
- The JNU CEEB is conducted in online mode.
- The examination duration is 3 hours.
- The question paper is divided into two parts, altogether containing 240 multiple-choice questions.
- Part one consists of 60 MCQ-type questions.
- Part two consists of 180 MCQ-type questions.

3. Indian Council of Agricultural Research Entrance Examination (ICAR AIEEA)
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research Entrance Examination is a national level veterinary entrance exam conducted for the admission process for various graduate and postgraduate courses for candidates interested in veterinary, horticulture, and various other sectors.
Eligibility Criteria:
The eligibility criteria for UG and PG courses vary based on the course level. The eligibility for UG and PG courses is shared below.
Undergraduate-
- The candidate must have passed 12th or its equivalent from a recognized board.
- The candidate must be 16 years old as of 31st Aug 2023.
- The candidate must have scored 50% in their 12th in general/ OBC/ UPS category and 40% in SC/ST/PC category.
Post Graduate-
- The candidate must have passed graduation from a recognized board.
- The candidate must be 19 years old as of 31st Aug 2023.
- There is no restriction on the minimum age limit.
- The candidate must have scored 60% in their graduation in the general/ OBC/ UPS category and 50% in SC/ST/PC category.
Exam Pattern:
The examination pattern for both UG and PG courses differs based on course preferences. The detailed exam pattern is listed below.
Undergraduate-
- The exam will be conducted in both English and Hindi mode.
- The examination duration is 150 minutes.
- There will be a total of 180 MCQ-type questions.
- For each correct answer candidates will be awarded +5 marks and for each wrong answer -1 will be deducted.
- The exam will be conducted for a total of 600 marks.
Post Graduate-
- The examination duration is 120 minutes.
- There will be a total of MCQ and Cross Matching type questions.
- For each correct MCQ answer candidates will be awarded +4 marks and for each wrong MCQ answer -1 will be deducted.
- For each correct Cross Matching type answer candidates will be awarded +5 marks and for each wrong Cross Matching type answer -0.2 will be deducted.
- The exam will be conducted for a total of 650 marks.

4. Kerala Engineering Agricultural and Medical Entrance Test (KEAM)
Kerala Engineering Agricultural and Medical Entrance Test (KEAM) is conducted once a year. The exam is conducted for admission to various professional courses in Kerala. The veterinary entrance exam is conducted by the Office of the Commissioner of Entrance Exam run by the Kerala government.
Eligibility Criteria:
The eligibility criteria involved for admission to veterinary colleges based on the KEAM examination are as follows:
- The candidate must be a citizen of India.
- The candidate must have passed 12th or equivalent from a recognized board.
- The candidate must have scored above 50% in the general category and above 45% in the reserved category in their 12th.
Exam Pattern:
The examination pattern being followed in the KEAM exam is listed below.
- The exam will be conducted in offline mode (pen-paper based).
- The exam paper is divided into two parts.
- The exam duration for each paper will be 2 hours and 30 minutes.
- There will be 120 MCQ-type questions in each paper.
- For each correct answer, 4 marks will be awarded and for each wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted.

5. All India Pre-Veterinary Test (AIPVT)
All India Pre-Veterinary Test (AIPVT) is a national-level entrance examination considered for the admission of candidates interested in veterinary courses. The examination is conducted once a year. The AIPVT veterinary entrance exam was replaced with the NEET exam in 2021, thus admission for veterinary courses will now be available based on NEET scores.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The candidate must have qualified NEET with a good score.
- The candidate must have qualified intermediate in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as their compulsory subject from a recognized board.
- The candidate must have aged between 17 to 25 years.
- The candidate must have scored above 50% in the general category and above 47.5% in the reserved category in their 12th.
- There will be 15% of reservations for the SC category, 7.5% of reservations for the ST category, 27% of reservations for the OBC-NCL category, and 3% of reservations for physically handicapped candidates.
Exam Pattern:
The examination pattern being followed for the AIPVT entrance examination is shared below.
- The exam consists of 180 multiple-choice questions.
- There will be 45 questions for Physics and Chemistry and 90 questions for Biology.
- The candidates will be rewarded with 4 marks for each correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
