The University of Jammu and Kashmir was established in the year 1948. It was separated into two-fledged Universities which are the University of Kashmir at Srinagar and the University of Jammu at Jammu. The campus is located in a very beautiful environment and flanked with world-famous Dal Lake on its eastern side and Nigeen Lake on its western side. The main campus of this university is located in a very vast area, and then it is divided into three parts- Hazratbal Campus, Naseem Bagh Campus, and Mirza Bagh campus for residential purposes. The environment helps the students in productive learning.

Directorate of Distance Education Kashmir University was started in the year 1976 with the aim to impart education in different disciplines through open and distance learning mode. The Directorate is housed in a multi-storied building with a well-equipped library, excellent student support services, and audio-visual lab, conference hall, well-furnished classrooms, and a computer lab with the latest Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facilities.

The University of Kashmir Admission offers varieties of programs in major faculties which are Art, Business, Management, Engineering, and Law. In the year 2011, the University of Kashmir was classified as Grade 'A' University by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India

Diploma in Pre-Primary Teachers Training	Candidates should have qualified higher secondary school examination with a minimum of 40% marks. Candidates should have continuous service experience for at least two years in Government or Private schools or institutions.
Bachelor of Education	Candidates should have passed a minimum of three years Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized body.
PG Diploma	Candidate should have three-year graduation with 50% marks in aggregate
M.A/M.Sc. Mathematics	Candidates should have qualified three years Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor in Science examination with mathematics as one of the subjects
M.A Urdu	Applicants should qualify for Bachelor in Arts examination. Candidates should have Urdu as one of the main subjects in higher secondary education.
