Maharaj Vijayaram Gajapathi Raj College of Engineering, [MVGRCE] Vizianagaram was established in the year 1997. The college is affiliated with JNTU – Kakinada. It is approved by the NBA and UGC. It is accredited NAAC 'A' Grade and AICTE. The college is situated on a lush green campus with an area of 60 acres of land.

Classrooms are equipped with an LCD projector and audio system. There are around 83 laboratories located in the institute with state-of-the-art facilities. All the laboratories are well maintained and the equipment is regularly calibrated. The college has well-developed sports facilities like cricket, volleyball, basketball, badminton, Table Tennis and many others. The library is fully air-conditioned with several amenities like a mini auditorium, digital studio, magazine reading section, discussion room etc. There is a central library including a digital library and nine departmental libraries. The admin seminar hall is centrally air-conditioned with a seating capacity of 250. The MBA seminar hall with a seating capacity of 200. The open-air auditorium has a capacity of 1200 helping students to host events like College Annual day celebrations, Student Fests, etc.

The college has a placements cell which aims to encourage students to achieve their dreams of getting placed in the reputed companies and to become an entrepreneur. Maharaj Vijayaram Gajapathi Raj College of Engineering Admission:

MVGRCE admission is done online on the official website of the institute. Admissions are done as per the guidelines of the State Government. Candidates are selected based on the ranks obtained in state/ central level competitive examinations. All MVGRCE admission is done 70% through an entrance examination and 30% through management quota. For B. Tech admission, each candidate must appear in AP EAMCET after which they are called for the counseling process. For admission in M.Tech, candidates must appear in Andhra Pradesh Engineering Common Entrance Test (ECET). MBA admissions are done on the basis of score in the Andhra Pradesh Integrated Common Entrance Test (AP ICET), GATE, or PGECET.

The college provides separate hostels for both boys and girls. The hostel features a separate reading room, a Gym for fitness, power backup, and 24 hr security. It has in house digital library with a 250 Mbps internet facility. The hostel also has high-speed internet access for the students. It has an R.O drinking water facility and a solar hot water facility. The college provides state of the art infrastructure facilities.

• The boy's hostel has around 350 rooms accommodating 2 students in each room while the girl's hostel has 120 and 32 rooms accomodating 2 and 3 persons per room respectively. 
• A separate cot, bed, pillow, chair, table, and cupboard are provided to each occupant.
• R.O. drinking water, in-house laundry services, and lift facilities are available in each block.
• Spacious and well-furnished dining halls with clean and hygienic kitchen are available in the hostels.
• Students can also use a separate recreation center with Audio, Video, and T.V. facilities.
