Mysore Medical College, established in June/July 1924 is the oldest medical college of Karnataka and one of India's pioneering institutions. MMC started in Bangalore near Victoria Hospital and shifted to Mysore in 1930. Here was the fulfillment of Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV's vision.
MMC was initially housed in the Chamarajendra Technical Institute and grew to be a premier institution. The first principal in Mysore was Dr. J.F. Robison who was also the Durbar Surgeon and Superintendent of Krishnarajendra Hospital.
