Fees & Scholarships :
Fees & Scholarships :
Sibar Institute of Dental Sciences, Guntur Fee Structure. Fees of Sibar Institute of Dental Sciences is INR 1 lakh per year of A category and INR 2 Lakh per for B category.
Government Scholarships are available for students from the BC reservation and SC reservation sections. The scholarship pays the entire tuition fee. Every year around 400-500 students all over the state avail these scholarships.
Entrance Exams & Admissions :
•The required eligibility criteria were to complete 12th grade with biology, physics and chemistry as the main subjects and to be a student of 17 years and above. • The student had to first give a national entrance examination test (NEET) and the admission was given based on the state wide rank. There are reservation categories for different sections. For the general caste section the cutoff state wide rank you is 2000-3000 and for the BC sections, the cutoff ranks vary from 4000-8000 . • I took the entrance test and ranked 6000 state wide. As I have a reservation, I could get a seat easily.
Placements & Internships :
There is no such option as campus placements because this is a dental degree. In this course, there is an additional one year where we work as an intern in the hospital that is affiliated with the college. The stipend we receive per year is 24000 INR. The alumni network is not that generous but during the last year there has been an alumni meet . Currently I am doing my internship and the stipend I get paid is 2000 INR per month. It is very difficult to get a good job immediately after completing BDS, so many students prefer to take up MDS, which is the master's degree. My seniors who have got jobs immediately after BDS, earn a salary of 1,40,000 per year. There are other government jobs which are highly paid .
Academics & Faculty :
There is a strict time schedule that is followed on an hourly basis. The college allots a month every now and then to conduct any projects and research programs which are optional based on the students interests. I can affirm that the quality of teaching is not so good according to college standards. The method of teaching however is bad and is to rote and by heart method. There is no understanding method and most of the students follow the notes prepared by the professor and remember these notes by rote. As a student, I myself felt that I need not put any exertion into going to libraries or refering various authors and just by heart the notes given. I have passed with a good percentage so I am happy. But I feel, if there was more teaching efficiency involved, I would have gained better marks.
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities :
There are three hostels : one boys hostel and two girls hostels in which one of the hostel is for the freshers. The rooms are not spacious and the living conditions are pretty decent. There are no nearby PGs but there are rooms available for rent in the nearby areas . The rent costs upto 2000 INR per head per month. The food is good to taste and each meal costs about 60₹ . The classrooms are big and can accommodate around 150 students. There is only one library within the building and it is spacious to accommodate around 120 students. Most of the books are only for reference purposes and very few can be issued. The computer availabilities are also out of bounds for students and used only when permission is granted. The WiFi in the library is locked with password and is used only under the librarian's permission. There is no WiFi in the college or hospital or hostel. The dining halls are not so good comparatively.
Clubs & Associations :
There are no student societies or clubs in the college. There is an annual college day which is celebrated during December or February every year. In general college life is boring and it is like a routine based on speeding cogs and wheels of a huge wall clock. There is no time as to enjoy as there is continuous work submissions, patient quota completions and viva completion. Looking back, the only enjoyment I felt I had was the satisfaction I felt after completing my work.
