Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics was established on 22nd Oct 1913. The college was then known as Government College of Commerce. Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics is one of the pioneer institutions in India for commerce education. The college was awarded “India’s No.1 Brand in commerce and Economics category” in 2016 on a survey conducted by Media Research group. Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics is the first college in Asia that offered commerce education. The college is accredited with A grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council in 2004.

Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics [SCCE] Facilities

Sydenham College, Mumbai have facilities like library, computer centre, sports department, gymnasium, canteen, students common room, auditorium, conference room, Wi-Fi connectivity, hostels. The whole campus has Wi-Fi connectivity.

The library of Sydenham College has a collection of over 50000 books. The library is also subscribed to various journals and periodicals on economics and commerce. There is a large reading hall and the library is open from 8 am to 8 pm. Library also provides photocopying facilities. There are 3 computer labs in the college of which 2 are well equipped and is used for the practical classes. 

The sports department of Sydenham College provides amenities like a basketball court, volleyball court, and indoor games like caroms, chess, and table tennis. There is a reserved space at Oval Maidan for playing games like cricket, football and handball. The annual sports meet is conducted at the Mumbai University sports complex. There is a gymnasium under the sports department which is a well-equipped multi-station gymnasium.  

Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics has an auditorium with a seating capacity of 450 people. The auditorium is airconditioned and have modern lights and sound system. The auditorium is used for seminars, co-curricular and extra-curricular programs. Sydenham college has an airconditioned conference hall for conducting meetings, conferences, seminars, and workshops. The conference hall has a seating capacity of 180 people and has other amenities like a projector, smartboard and internet connectivity. There is a student's common room where different societies and clubs conduct their meetings. Girls have a separate common room. 

Sydenham College’s canteen works from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm. The canteen provides good food at a reasonable price. The canteen is a spacious and well-lit hall and is clean and hygienic.

Sydenham College Provides off-campus hostel facilities for both ladies and gents. Gents hostel has an accommodation of 150 students in the Govt. College Hostel.
