Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) is a crucial examination for aspiring teachers in the state of Haryana, India. It is conducted by the Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH). Students appearing for the board exam must check the eligibility criteria when applying for the exam.

Level-wise HTET Eligibility Criteria 2024

HTET Eligibility criteria 2024 mandates a 50% passing grade in the relevant subject. The HTET exam has no upper age limit for participation. To pass the exam, candidates are allowed to try as many times as they prefer. 

Students must have important documents while applying for the exam. Here are the expected HTET eligibility criteria for 2024, according to the different levels of HTET. 

Levels of HTET

The HTET is conducted for three levels, each corresponding to different teaching positions:

  • Level 1 (Primary Teacher): For teaching classes I to V.
  • Level 2 (Trained Graduate Teacher - TGT): For teaching classes VI to VIII.
  • Level 3 (Post Graduate Teacher - PGT): For teaching classes IX to XII.

Each level has distinct eligibility criteria based on educational qualifications and professional requirements.

Educational Qualifications- Level 1

Level 1 is for primary teachers. Candidates aspiring to become primary teachers (classes I -V) must meet the following HTET eligibility educational qualifications

  • Candidates must have passed with at least 50% marks
  • 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, recognised by NCTE.
  • 2-years of diploma in Special Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) 

Here is the subject-wise breakdown of the level-2 educational qualification to be eligible for HTET. 

Social Science 

  • Candidates with B.A./B.Com alongside English  
  • Combined marks of 50% for History, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology will be taken into account. 
  • B.A./B.COM degree alongside Diploma in Elementary Education.
  • 50% aggregate and 1-year B.Ed. 
  • B.A/B.COM with 45% aggregate, and 1-year B.Ed.
  • Senior secondary, 50% aggregate, and 4-years B.A./B.COM.
  • Candidate with B.Ed degree, must have teaching subject in social studies.
  • Candidate must have passed the Hindi or Sanskrit matrix or graduated/postgraduated in Hindi. 

Mathematics 

  • 50% marks in B.Sc/B.Com in mathematics, 2-year diploma in Elementary Education. 
  • B.A./B.Sc/B.Com with 50% marks overall, also in Mathematics.
  • Candidate must have passed senior secondary with 50% marks, and 4 years B.SC.ED
  • Candidate with B.Ed degree, must also have mathematics as teaching subject.
  • Senior secondary or postgraduate degree in Hindi or Sanskrit.

Science 

  • If candidate has B.Sc. degree, subjects like - mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology will be considered.
  • B.Sc with 2 year diploma in elementary education is required. 
  • 50%-45% marks in B.Sc. with 1-year B.Ed.
  • If the candidate has done senior secondary then, 50% marks and 4 years B.Sc.ED is required. 
  • Candidate pursuing B.Ed, must have science as teaching subject.
  • Candidate must pass his/her matrix in Hindi/Sanskrit/graduate in Hindi/B.A./M.A.

Sanskrit 

  • B.A. with 50% aggregate in Sanskrit. 
  • B.A. degree, with 50% aggregate overall, and 1-year B.Ed. 
  • B.A. with 50% marks overall and at least 45% in Sanskrit
  • If the candidate has done senior secondary then, 50% marks and 4 years B.A.Ed is required.
  • B.A. with a total score of 50%, which includes one year of B.Ed. and Sanskrit.
  • Sanskrit must be taught as a subject for B.Ed. candidates.
  • Senior Secondary/post-graduation in Hindi or Matrix in Sanskrit.

Punjabi 

  • B.A. with at least 50% marks in Punjabi.
  • B.A. with a 50% aggregate in Punjabi and 1-year of B.Ed.
  • B.A. with a minimum of 45% in Punjabi and 50% of marks overall.
  • 50% in senior secondary school and four years of B.A.Ed.
  • B.A. with 50% in Punjabi, and 1-year B.Ed.
  • Punjabi is the required teaching language for B.Ed. candidates.
  • Senior Secondary/Post-Graduation in Hindi or Matrix in Sanskrit.

 Urdu 

  • B.A. with at least 50% marks in Urdu.
  • B.A. 50% aggregate in Urdu and 1 year B.Ed.
  • B.A. with a minimum of 45% in Urdu and 50% of marks overall.
  • 50% in senior secondary school and four years of B.A.Ed.
  • B.A. with 50% in Urdu, and 1-year B.Ed.
  • Urdu is the required teaching language for B.Ed. candidates.
  • Graduate/post-graduate in Hindi, or Matrix in Sanskrit/Hindi.

Home Science 

  • B.A. with at least 50% marks in Home Science.
  • B.A. 50% aggregate in Home science and 1 year B.Ed.
  • B.A. with a minimum of 45% in Home Science and 50% aggregate overall.
  • 50% in senior secondary school and four years of B.A.Ed.
  • B.A. with 50% in Home Science, and 1-year B.Ed.
  • If a candidate has a B.Ed degree, he/she must also have home science as a teaching subject.
  • Graduate/post-graduate in Hindi, or Matrix in Sanskrit/Hindi.

Physical Education 

  • Candidate must have graduated from B.P.E.D/D.P.E.D./ or equivalent.
  • Matrix with Hindi/Sanskrit or Senior Secondary/post graduation in Hindi.

Music 

  • B.A. with at least 50% marks.
  • B.A. with a 50% aggregate and 1-year of B.Ed.
  • B.A. with 50% of marks overall.
  • 50% in senior secondary school and 4-years of B.A.Ed.
  • B.A. with 50% overall, and 1-year B.Ed.
  • Candidates with B.Ed. degree must have music as teaching subject.
  • Matrix with Hindi/Sanskrit or Senior Secondary/post graduation in Hindi.

Art 

  • B.A. with at least 50% marks.
  • B.A. with a 50% aggregate and 1-year of B.Ed.
  • B.A. with 50% of marks overall.
  • 50% in senior secondary school and 4-years of B.A.Ed.
  • B.A. with 50% overall, and 1-year B.Ed.
  • Fine arts must be the subject for a B.A.
  • Matrix with Hindi/Sanskrit or Senior Secondary/post graduation in Hindi.

These educational qualifications must be met by the candidate to ascertain their eligibility in the exam. 

Educational Qualifications- Level 2

Level 2 is for TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher). For teaching classes VI to VIII, the following HTET eligibility qualifications are outlined below.

  • Sanskrit: candidate must have M.A. degree in Sanskrit/Shiksha Shastri/Oriental Training In Sanskrit
  • Biology: Candidate must possess a degree in M.Sc Biology/bio science/zoology/botany/Genetics/microbiology/plant physiology/ Life sconces/medical biotechnology/ forensic science/ genomics.
  • Physics: M.Sc Physics/nuclear physics/applied physics/electronic physics is mandatory for the eligibility.
  • Chemistry: Degree in M.Sc Chemistry/Biochemistry.
  • Mathematics: candidate must have M.Sc in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics
  • Economics: Candidate must possess M.A. Economics/ Applied Economics/ Business Economics
  • Commerce: M.Com in Accounting/Cost Accounting/Financial Accounting is mandatory eligibility criteria.
  • Music / Fine Arts: M.A. Music/Fine Arts 
  • Physical Education: Candidate must possess M.A. in Physical Education or M.P.E.D. or, Diploma in Physical Education. 

Educational Qualifications- Level 3

Level 3 is for PGT - Post Graduate Teachers. Aspiring PGTs from classes IX to XII, must fulfil the following HTET eligibility criteria:

  • Master's degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks.
  • B.Ed or Equivalent degree.
  • Candidates in the final year of their Master’s or B.Ed programmes. 

HTET 2024 Exam Age Limit

HTET age limit criteria for aspiring students is not bounded. Here is a brief of the HTET age limit for the exam for students to know. 

  • No upper age limit, so candidates can appear for exam for multiple times. 
  • Candidates under reserved categories are eligible for an age relaxation.

Documents Required for HTET 2024 Application

HTET eligibility criteria 2024 highlights the important documents required for the application process, enlisted below. Students must check the list before starting to apply for the exam application. 

  • Mark sheets and certificates of Class 10th, 12th, Graduation, Post-Graduation, and Professional Qualification (like D.El.Ed., B.Ed.).
  • Identity proof such as - aadhar card, voter ID card, PAN card, passport, and others.
  • A caste certificate is required for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/EWS categories. 
  • Proof of residence for candidates applying under domicile categories.
  • Recent passport-sized photographs according to the required dimensions and format. The size should be between 20 KB to 50 KB. 
  • A scanned copy of the signature of the candidate, in the required format. The required size must be between 10 KB to 20 KB.
