About TS SET

Telangana State Eligibility Test, well known as TS SET, is a state-level entrance examination conducted by Osmania University on behalf of the state government. The candidates who clear this test are eligible for recruitment for the post of Assistant Professor in the concerned university or college across the state of Telangana.

TS SET is conducted according to the New Educational Policy, 1986. It intends to maintain uniform standards of teaching in the country. So apart from having the minimum educational qualification, potential candidates are expected to clear an entrance test to serve as Assistant Professors or Lecturers.

As per this, UGC, New Delhi has been conducting UGC-NET Examination regularly. But as the candidates from each state aspired to write the test in their mother tongue, the Government of India has given powers to State Governments and Union Territories to conduct their eligibility entrance test for the Lectureship. Hence, for Telangana, the state government is conducting TS SET.

TS SET 2025 is conducted only for the candidates of Telangana. A large number of Aspirants are appointed through direct recruitment or by promotion in Universities and Degrees Colleges in the State. Candidates can also write the exam in Telugu. There is no upper age limit for the candidates to apply for the TS SET 2025 Examination. The exam is conducted for a total of 27 subjects as per the schedule. Candidates can appear for the TS SET exam at any number of chances. The TS SET 2025 will comprise two papers. TS SET Application Form 2025

TS SET application form 2025 will be released on telanganaset.org in the 2nd week of May 2025 (tentative). The last date to apply without a late fee will be in July 2025 (tentative). While candidates will be allowed to fill their application forms with a late fee later on, they must note that late submissions will result in higher late fee.

TS SET 2025 Eligibility Criteria

TS SET 2025 eligibility criteria are released on the official website along with the information bulletin. Only those candidates who meet the criteria can apply and appear for this exam in Telangana. General category candidates who have done a Master's degree and have scored 55% marks (without rounding off) are eligible.

The candidates must have completed their degree in any of the required fields, such as M.A., M.Sc., M.Com, MBA, MLISC, M.Ed., M.PEd., MCJ, LLM, MCA and M.Tech (CSE & IT only).

Candidates from Backward Classes (BC)/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Persons with Disability (PwD) must have scored at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s degree.

All aspirants who are awaiting their Master's degree results are also entitled to apply. However, they will be given only provisional admission and they must provide their certificates after the results. Their aggregate score must be 55% at least (General candidates) and 50% (for BC/SC/ST/PwD - Persons with Disability).

Aspirants who belong to the third gender (transgender) will get relaxation in terms of age, fee, and qualifying criteria.

PhD candidates who complete their Master's level examination by the set date (irrespective of the date of declaration of result) will get 5 percentage points relaxation (i.e., from 55% to 50%).

TS SET Exam Pattern 2025

TS SET Exam Pattern 2025 is designed as per the exam syllabus. There are two papers in this exam. TS SET will be conducted online, as a computer-based test (CBT), and will be held for a total duration of 3 hours in one session. Candidates must answer all the questions in both papers. All questions are compulsory.

TS SET Syllabus 2025

TS SET Syllabus 2025 will be prescribed by the conducting body and the same will be available in the information bulletin for the exam. There are two question papers in the TS SET exam. Paper I is common for all subjects and will be conducted in English and Telugu, and Paper II is similar to the old syllabi. All questions are compulsory in Paper II.

TS SET 2025 Results

TS SET result 2025 will be declared in October 2025 (tentatively). Candidates who appear for the exam can check the results using the login credentials generated at the time of registration. TS SET result 2025 will not be sent by post to any of the candidates. There is a certain procedure or criteria followed to select candidates as per the result. Criteria for Declaration of TS SET 2025 Result

As per TS SET 2025 results, the total number of candidates that will be qualified for the Assistant Professor recruitment will be 6% of the total candidates who attempted Paper I and Paper II.

The probable seat reservation or the seats allocated to the different categories, as per the GO. MS No. 16, are below.

• 33.33% of slots will be given to women in each subject and each category. The table mentioned above will not be applicable if more than 33.33% of women candidates are selected in each category.
• If the women candidates are less than the above-mentioned percentage then automatically those slots will be distributed to the men candidates of that category.
• There will be a horizontal reservation for Persons with Disability in each category and each subject. The reservation percentage is 3%.

TS SET Recruitment Policy 2025

To be eligible for TS SET recruitment 2025, the candidate should attempt both the papers - Paper I and Paper II. General category candidates must score at least 40% marks in the papers and reserved category candidates should score at least 35% marks in both the papers. So, the total number of candidates from a particular category for a particular subject is selected based on the following formula.

The number of candidates who are qualified for Assistant Professor Recruitment for Economics subject for any category is given as = (A*B)/C

• Where A = The number of candidates who scored at least 35% aggregate marks in both the papers taken together for one particular subject (Economics in this case).
• B = Total slots allotted for that category (Say SC)
• C = Total number of candidates who belong to that particular category (Say SC) who have scored at least 35% aggregate marks in both the papers taken together.

The aggregate percentage of the two papers corresponding to the number of slots arrived at, will determine the qualifying cut-off for Assistant Professor Recruitment in Economics (in this case) for the SC category. The same procedure and criteria are fixed for all subjects and categories.
