Google Women Techmakers Scholars Program

The Google Women Techmakers Scholars Program which was initially known as the Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship upholds Dr. Anita Borg's vision of improving gender equality in the field of computer science and technology by enabling women to pursue their career in these fields and become revolutionaries and leaders of Computer Science and Information Technology areas. Scholarships are provided to women, which are merit-based and also depend upon the willingness of them to make an impact on the female community in the technical aspect. The scholarships are applicable for Bachelor's and Master's Degree in computer science and technology from Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Greece, Ukraine, Austria. The last date to apply for the Generation Google Scholarship for women techmakers is June 30, 2023 (tentatively).

Google Women Techmakers Scholars Program Eligibility Criteria

The scholarships are available for female candidates with good academic records. The detailed eligibility criteria are mentioned below:

• Applicable only for female students from North America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Asia Pacific
• Applicant should be enrolled in or accepted as a full time/ part-time student for a Bachelor's or Master's Degree from Europe, the Middle East or Africa
• Applicants should be enrolled in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information technology or other closely related courses
• Applicants must demonstrate strong academic credentials along with good leadership abilities and a positive intention for creating a change for women in the technical area
• Past Recipients of any Google Scholarship aren't eligible

Google Women Techmakers Scholars Program Rewards

The Google women techmakers scholarship will be given one time and covers majorly the tuition fees. The detailed rewards for the scholarship are mentioned below:

• Each scholar will receive a scholarship reward of 7000 EUR or the equivalent amount for the academic year 
• All scholars will be allowed to attend the annual Women Techmakers Scholars' Retreat in summer where they can communicate and interact with fellow scholars, socialize with the people from Google and attend a variety of workshops
• The scholars will join a long term community which acts as a platform for resource sharing, collaborations and much more. 

Google Women Techmakers Scholars Program Application Process

Candidates will have to apply online for the Google Women Techmakers Scholars program application process. The details about the application process are mentioned below:

• The applicants have to download an online application form from the website by clicking here.
• The application form contains general details about the applicants' background like contact details, intended institutions, etc
• The applicants have to attach their current resume with the application form
• The applicants will have to attach academic transcripts and performance reports from their current institutions and the ones before
• The applicants must compulsorily have a letter of recommendation from a concerned authority in a designated post in the current institution
• The applicants will also have to attach their responses to essay questions

Google Women Techmakers Scholars Program Selection Process

The applicants will be solely selected on their academic and extra-academic credentials in the field of computer science and engineering, information technology, and other closely related areas, their leadership abilities, demonstrations of upholding positions of responsibilities and finally their willingness to contribute towards women education in the technical and IT sector. The scholars will be evaluated by a committee and selected from the applicant pool for under graduation master's program based on the quality and strength of their application forms. The cash benefit will be paid in one time itself.
