GMAT 2025 is a standardised exam to measure graduates' business aptitude based on problem-solving, communication, and strategic thinking abilities. GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council) has conducted GMAT tests for over 50 years. The 11th Edition, which is also the most recent edition, tests applicants in three sections: QR, VR, and DI. These portions of the GMAT assess applicants' abilities in quantitative reasoning, logical reasoning, critical thinking, and data analysis. 

The GMAT test is popular among applicants not only pursuing an MBA abroad, but also for degrees such as MIM, MS in Management, and other business-related courses. The GMAC administers the Graduate Management Aptitude Test both at home and in an exam centre.

About GMAT Exam

GMAT 2025 will be conducted online, and the eligible candidates can take the test at their respective exam centres or from their homes. The full form of GMAT is Graduate Management Admission Test. This is the entrance exam that is conducted for admission into MBA, in various colleges all over the world. GMAT is organized by an authority known as the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC).

GMAC is a US-based Pearson VUE, an educational testing service. It is the sole conducting authority of GMAT all over the world, for MBA admissions. The GMAT score is accepted at more than 2300 colleges for 7000 programs around the globe. Even in our country, several top colleges like XLRI accept the GMAT score. Apart from these colleges, IIMs accept these scores as well. This exam is designed especially for Management and Business.

GMAT is a Computer Adaptive Test. It means the level of difficulty of a particular question depends on the answer given to the previous question. GMAT runs around 7000 programs across the world having 600 test centres in 114 countries. GMAT is conducted as an entrance test for admission into MBA, Postgraduate Diploma in Management, as well as various other master's level programs in Finance, Business, etc., all over the world.

GMAT Online vs Test Centre

The GMAT exam is available in two formats: online from home and in person at a GMAT exam centre. During registration, you can choose between two GMAT exam modes. Applicants who wish to take the GMAT at a test centre must select the register at test centre option, while those who opt for the online method can select the register for GMAT online option.

While both modalities of GMAT tests have similar format, eligibility, and scoring, the only variation is the GMAT exam dates and times, as well as the money and resources required to take the exam. It is up to the applicants to determine which is a better alternative for them: GMAT online or GMAT at a test centre.

GMAT 2025 Exam Dates

GMAT 2025 exam has no specific dates as the candidates can appear for the exam on any day, at any time. This is the most noteworthy and significant characteristic of the GMAT exam.

The aspirants can choose and decide to give the test whenever they are ready. The candidates can also choose a date and start preparing accordingly. They can choose to appear for the GMAT exam more than once in a year as it is conducted around the year. There are limits as to how many times the candidate can appear for the GMAT exam. A candidate cannot give more than 8 attempts in their lifetime.

All candidates can choose an exam date according to their convenience. Keep in mind that there should be at least a gap of 16 days between any two successive attempts and the maximum number of attempts in a year is restricted to 5.

Despite the option to choose the GMAT exam date is left up to the candidate, the slot of the exam is determined by GMAC as it can vary depending on the number of aspirants applying for that particular day. Candidates must also check the deadlines for the universities they want to apply to and schedule their GMAT accordingly.

GMAT Eligibility 2025

As a result, GMAC (the GMAT's conducting organization) has not established any specific GMAT eligibility criteria for taking the GMAT Focus Edition exam. Students applying for master's level business courses will be eligible for admission only if they provide GMAT scores, as required by the university.

In addition, no educational degree is required while registering for GMAT Focus Edition to demonstrate eligibility. However, the applicant may be asked when and where they want to complete their degree, as well as the course. 

  • The candidate must be at least 18 years of age. Candidates who meet the GMAT eligibility requirements have no upper age limit.
  • If the candidate is 13-17 years old, they must acquire written permission (NOC) from their parents or legal guardians.
  • GMAC has not issued an official declaration addressing the requirements required to take the GMAT exam.

Furthermore, no job experience is required for GMAT Focus eligibility, however, applicants will be asked about their total work experience level during the registration process.

GMAT 2025 application form is available on the official site of GMAC. The application form requires the candidate's academic and personal details, and information about the desired exam centre.

The application fees can be paid through either online or offline mode. For an online method, various options are there such as MasterCard, American Express, Credit Cards, And Debit Cards.

How to Apply for GMAT Test?

The candidates can follow the mentioned steps to apply for GMAT 2025.

  • Registration: The candidates must go to the official website of GMAT, and register using their personal and contact details. Once the registration has been completed, they will receive their login credentials on their registered email ID. 
  • Login: The candidates must proceed to log in using those credentials. 
  • Fill Application Form: Upon logging in, the candidates will be able to access the GMAT application form. The candidates must carefully enter all the required details, such as their personal information, educational details, contact information, etc. 
  • Verification: Check the preview of the application form and verify the details.
  • Booking Slot: A list of available GMAT entrance test centres will be displayed. The candidate can choose the date and examination location from the drop-down menu at one's convenience.
  • Confirmation Details: Further, a screen is displayed with examination details, slot booking with time and date.
  • Payment of Application Fee: The candidates will now have to pay the application fees, which can be paid through both the modes, online and offline.
  • Final Stage: The candidate gets a confirmation email with booked slot details and payment info. Applicants can save this and take a printout.

Cancellation and Rescheduling of GMAT 2025

In case a candidate who has already registered for the GMAT exam wishes to cancel the registration, then they should do so 7 days before the date of the examination as the candidate will be refunded USD 80. If a candidate wants to reschedule the exam, then they will need to pay an additional fee of USD 60 before the 7 days of the exam.

To reschedule the GMAT exam within the 7 days before the exam, then candidates may have to pay USD 275. The rescheduling can be done via phone or online. Candidates cannot reschedule the exam on the exam date.

GMAT 2025 Admit Card

GMAT admit card 2025 will be released soon after the candidates register themselves for the exam. GMAT hall ticket will be released online only and no hard copy will be sent through the post. Candidates can download the admit cards from the GMAT entrance exam official website. Applicants must first create an account on the official website to choose a GMAT exam date.

  • GMAT 2025 exam centre and time slot will be mentioned on the admit card. A candidate's basic personal details will also be there on the admit card. Candidates must attend the exam on the date and time given on the GMAT admit card.

GMAT 2025 Exam Pattern

GMAT is a computer adaptive test. It means that the level of difficulty of a particular question depends on the answer given to the previous question. The total number of questions is 91 which is divided into 4 sections. Here, the GMAT exam pattern has been described in brief.

The exam lasts for 3 hours and 7 minutes. Although candidates are not allowed to wear watches, the availability of an onscreen timer serves the purpose of a clock. GMAT exam also provides the student with an onscreen calculator, which can be used for the quantitative section. Two short breaks of 8 minutes each are given.

GMAT Test 2025 Syllabus

The GMAT results can be downloaded from the official website after 20 days.

The candidates will be able to access their GMAT 2025 scorecards on the official website of GMAC. The candidates after viewing the GMAT 2025 result have the option either to accept or reject the result. If they accept the result, an official mail will be sent to them with their results. If they reject the result, the process will be over there only.

GMAT 2025 Selection Process

As soon as GMAT 2025 results are out, it will be sent to the various B-schools that the candidate has selected earlier, in a week or so. The B-schools will do a preliminary shortlisting based on the score in the exam. The final selection will depend on several other factors such as work experience, essay writing, letter of recommendation, SOPs or Statement of Purpose, and of course the fortune of a candidate.

Before commencement of GMAT exam, the candidates are required to give the names of 5 desired institutes in which the candidate aspires to take admission. After the results are out, the results will be sent to these colleges by GMAC. No extra fee is required to apply for these 5 institutes.

However, if the candidate wants to apply for additional institutes, an extra payment has to be done for each institute on the official site of GMAC. The GMAT counselling process beyond this point will vary from one college to another and the candidate has to personally find out the process from that institution's website.

GMAT 2025 Exam Day Guidelines

Candidates usually get nervous on exam days and forget some of the key things that are required at the exam venue. Hence, the following guidelines will help you to remember the important dos and don'ts on GMAT exam day.

  • ID Proof: Admit card and ID proof are mandatory for every candidate. Without the ID card, the candidates will not be allowed inside the examination hall of the GMAT entrance exam.
  • Report Early: The candidate must reach the exam centre at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the exam as the security checks, identity verification, and check-in may take a considerable time.
  • Latecomers Not Allowed: If a candidate reaches the exam centre after the commencement of the exam then the candidate will not be allowed to enter the examination hall.
  • No Talking Inside Examination Hall: The candidate is not allowed to talk to anybody during the examination. If the candidate is found doing the same, it will lead to the cancellation of the candidature of the candidate will be sent outside the examination hall without any warning in the GMAT entrance test.
  • Restricted Items: Candidates should not carry any Electronic Watches with a calculator, material printed or written, paper bits, mobile phone, pager or any other device, Calculators, Docu Pen, Slide Rules, Log Tables except the Admit Card, identity proof, or any document inside the examination hall.

Note: Due to the pandemic, the candidates can avail the GMAT exam either at the test centre or online. GMAT Online is available for the candidates to take GMAT from home for safety measures. GMAT online is now a permanent option for the aspirants due to the pandemic.
