Candidates that want to know what is a good rank in NEET UG? Must know the significant factors determining a candidate's score and rank in the entrance exam. The factors that affect the NEET score and rank are listed below:
- Difficulty level: Candidates may achieve a higher or a lower score based on the difficulty level of the entrance examination.
- Number of Candidates that Appeared for the Exam: Students would face higher competition if more candidates appeared. The cutoff or the minimum qualifying marks will be higher depending on the difficulty level and the number of candidates appearing for the exam. This will lead to lower scores and ranks for the aspirants.
- Reservation Category: Candidates belonging to OBC, SC, ST and PwD have relaxed qualifying criteria or cutoff.

NEET 2025 Tie Breaker
Since the competition is tough, two students will likely get the same score. In those cases, NEET 2025 has a tie-breaker to assign different ranks for the same marks. The tie-breaking rules for NEET 2025 are as follows:
- Marks in Biology will be considered a tie-breaker if two candidates get the same score. The candidate that secures a higher score in Biology will be given a higher rank.
- If the tie persists due to more candidates securing identical scores, then the marks obtained by candidates will be considered. The candidate that secures a higher score will be given a higher rank.
- If the tie persists, the candidate with the lowest number of incorrect answers is awarded the higher rank.
- If all the tie-breaking criteria fail, then the older candidate will be given preference for a higher rank.
