1. The data of the total number of students who have appeared for the CAT 2024 exam must be procured. 
2. With the given rank (r) of the candidate, the number of candidates with equal or lesser raw scores must be calculated (R). Subtracting the rank of the candidate(r) from the total number of candidates (N), i.e., (R=N-r), will give the number of candidates with raw scores equal to or less than the candidate (R). 
3. The CAT percentile must be calculated using the formula given below.

• P is the CAT percentile,
• R is the number of candidates with raw scores equal to or less than the score of the given candidate (R is the rank of the candidate subtracted from the total number of candidates) 
• N is the total number of candidates who appeared for CAT 2024. 

NOTE - For rank allotment, the percentile scores are rounded up to two decimal points.

Suppose candidate Z has secured a rank of 3500, and the total number of candidates who appeared for the exam is 2,51,218. In that case, the candidate's percentile can be calculated as follows. 

Percentile of Z = (2,51,218 -3500/2,51,218) * 100

                          = (2,47,719/2,51,218) * 100

                          = (0.98607186) * 100

                          = 98.6071858 

since the percentile can be rounded up to two decimal points, then, the percentile of Z = 98.60
