Several major NTA NEET changes have been introduced in the year 2024 that every aspirant must be aware of. Some of those include changes in the official website, NEET syllabus 2024, exam cities, and application process among others.
NEET is conducted by The National Testing Agency (NTA) every year for admission to several undergraduate medical courses. The testing agency keeps on updating criteria for several categories.
Therefore, students must rigorously keep a check on these changing requirements. However, if are still unaware of these NTA NEET changes introduced in 2024. You need not worry more!
NEET UG 2024 entrance exam is scheduled for Sunday, 5th May 2024. Before appearing for the examination students know about the major NTA NEET Changes introduced in 2024. The following are some of those changes that can help them prepare well for the NEET 2024 examination. Let’s have a detailed look at them:
1. NEET 2024 Official Website
One of the major NTA NEET changes introduced this year is the alteration of the official NEET 2024 UG website. Until last year website of NTA NEET was www.neet.nta.nic.in. however, this year onwards, the website address has changed. Students can now visit the following URls for any details regarding the exam:

2. NEET 2024 Application Process
The NEET application process 2024 has also been amended. While students will find that the process hasn’t been changed entirely, the changes have been introduced in identity type, documents to be uploaded, and login methods. The details are explained below:
Choosing “Identity Type” Before NEET 2024 Registration:
Right after clicking on the NEET registration 2024 tab, candidates are prompted to select their preferred “identity types” including the following:
- Aadhaar Number
- Digilocker Account
- Academic Bank of Credits ID
- Indian Passport
- PAN Card
- Non-Indian Passport
NEET 2024 Login Methods:
Upon selecting their preferred option, candidates will also be able to log in by selecting the following modes:
- Application Number
- ABC ID
- Digilocker ID

3. NEET Application Documents
Documents including class 10 mark sheet and address proof are no longer required to be submitted. However, basic identification documents like photograph, signature, and finger and thumb impressions are compulsory to be added to the NEET application form 2024. Let us take a look at the NEET 2024 application documents which are required, and not required any longer:
NEET 2024 required documents:
- Scanned passport photograph
- Scanned postcard-size photograph
- Scanned signature
- Scanned left and right-hand fingers and thumb impressions
- PWBD Certificate (if applicable)
- Citizenship Certificate (if applicable, for NRI/PIO/OCI candidates)
NEET 2024 documents that are no longer required:
- Class 10 Pass Certificate
- Permanent and Present Address Proof
- Category Certificate (for Reserved category candidates)

4. NEET 2024 Application fee
For the NEET 2024 exam, the candidates will have to pay an application fee when submitting the application form. The NEET application fee has been revised this year. The NEET registration 2024 fees for the general category have been increased by 100. Now, the candidates have to pay Rs. 1,700.
Moreover, the aspirants hailing from outside India have to pay Rs 9,500. Additionally, for the EWS/ OBC- NCL category, the fee is Rs 1,600 and for SC/ ST/ PH- it is Rs 1000.

5. NEET 2024 Tie-Breaking Criteria
The tie-breaking criteria have been amended again for the NEET 2024 exam. While the first three criteria have remained the same, the fourth criterion has changed. Here’s a brief explanation of the fourth tie-breaking criterion:
- Candidate obtaining higher marks in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the Test, followed by,
- Candidate obtaining higher marks in Chemistry in the Test, followed by,
- Candidate obtaining higher marks in Physics in the Test, followed by,
- Draw of lots by using the computer or IT with no human intervention.

6. NEET 2024 Cities
NEET has gone international since 2021; but not this year. In 2023, the exam was conducted in 14 cities outside India. This year, NTA announced that the exam will not be conducted in any city outside India.
However, as per the notice released on February 20th, the exam will be conducted in 14 cities abroad, the same as last year. The NEET exam centres 2024 are located in 554 Indian cities and 14 abroad.
Therefore, students who have already applied for the NEET 2024 exam will be allowed to change the exam city to their chosen foreign city during the correction window. Notably, they have to pay an application fee during this period.

7. NEET 2024 Syllabus
NTA NEET changes were also made to the NEET syllabus 2024. The changes were announced by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and later the National Testing Agency (NTA).
As per the revised syllabus, several topics have been removed from each of the three subjects, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. At the same time, a few topics have been added to each subject.
Moreover, till 2023, the NEET UG syllabus was divided into Class 11 and Class 12 syllabus. However, this division has been amended this year, except in the NEET Chemistry syllabus, wherein the units are segregated into Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry.

8. NEET Eligibility Criteria
Last but not least, the NEET eligibility criteria 2024 have also been revised. The changes have been made in the subjects studied and the schooling background. Till last year, candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology as core subjects were considered eligible to sit for the NEET exam.
However, this year, students who have studied these subjects as additional papers are also eligible to appear for the examination. Moreover, students who have passed or appeared for Class 12 or equivalent board exam from the National Institute of Open Schools (NIOS) are also eligible for NEET 2024.
