WBJEE Choice Filling and Locking 2024: Dates, Steps, Seat Distribution

Now that the WBJEE result is out on 6th June 2024, the WBJEE choice filling and locking 2024 is expected to begin on 17th July 2024 and will go on till 23rd July 2024. The choice filling is the process of choosing and finalising seats for admission into their desired colleges by the candidates.

After each round of counselling, the authority will publish the WBJEE 2024 seat allotment result. Registered candidates can access the official website to view their WBJEE 2024 seat allotment results by entering their roll number and password.

What is WBJEE Choice Filling and Locking 2024?

Candidates who meet the requirements for WBJEE e-Counselling can finish the WBJEE choice filling and locking 2024. It is conducted to choose the seats and lock them for admission. The process begins with re-registering for counselling.

The WBJEE counselling process includes the assigning of seats based on a candidate's ranking in WBJEE 2024 or JEE Main for B.Tech and B.Pharma, and through NATA for B.Arch. The relevant colleges will conduct the final document verification.

Candidates must select colleges from a list of participating institutions throughout the WBJEE choice filling and locking process. Further, they must select the B.Tech branch in which they want to be admitted in addition to the institute.

The only candidates eligible for seat allocation are those who exercise their options during the WBJEE choice filling and locking process.

How to do WBJEE Choice Filling and Locking 2024? 

The WBJEE choice filling and locking 2024 option will be available only for the candidates who qualify for the WBJEE cutoffs and counselling. The step-by-step process on how to do choice filling in WBJEE is discussed below:

Step 1: Enrolling in WBJEE Counselling

• Candidates must click "New Candidate Registration" on the official website, wbjeeb.nic.in.
• Next, they must enter information like your WBJEE/JEE Main Roll Number, Application Form Number, Candidate Name, Date of Birth, and Security PIN.
• The generation of an ID and password follows successful registration.
• For later usage, candidates must make a note of these login details.

Note: Enter all the necessary data correctly; since there will be no edit option once the registration for counselling is complete.

Step 2: Paying the WBJEE Counseling Fees

• Candidates need to complete the counselling fee payment. It varies for each category.
• Candidates who pay the fee will be permitted to participate in subsequent counselling sessions.

Step 3: WBJEE Choice Filling and Locking

• To fill out the options, aspirants must access the WBJEE official website on the dates.
• The candidates will get the choice to fill in the WBJEE option after logging in. Colleges will be listed in alphabetical order in a drop-down arrow.
• Candidates have two options: type the college's name or select the college and B.Tech branch. After choosing the college and branch, the candidates can mark the priority number.
• Before deciding, candidates must check the WBJEE cutoff to see their chances of admission to the participating colleges.
• After the choices are locked, candidates won't be able to change their WBJEE choice filling.
• Candidates must print the WBJEE choice filling and locking for later use after making and validating their selections.

Note: Candidates must complete the entire process before the WBJEE choice locking last date.

Step 4: Seat Allocation

• After completing WBJEE choice filling and locking, the candidates will be assigned seats by rank and preference. 
• The students must go into their registered account to check the seats assigned, as this process will also be conducted online.
• Candidates may choose from the following options:

1. Accept and hold the seat
2. Accept their better selections with the possibility of an upgrade
3. Stay still

Step 5: Document verification

• An SMS will be sent to the candidate once all the documents are approved.
• The candidate will receive a notice if one or more of the document(s) is/are rejected; they can log in and examine the reason for rejection. Candidates can also contact the Central Control Room at the WBJEE office if they need assistance.
• The candidate will receive an SMS instructing them to re-upload any required und legible documents within a predetermined window.

Points to Keep in Mind When Filling Out Choices

Now that the candidates know how to do choice filling in WBJEE, they must keep certain things in mind while doing so. The path to enrollment in their selected program and institution can be roughly divided into four parts.

Following the last phase, candidates must appear at the reporting centres for document verification. However, here are some points that candidates should follow:

• Candidates must check the WBJEE cutoff before selecting their options to determine their chances of getting into the participating institutions.
• Candidates cannot make any changes after their WBJEE choice filling and locking.
• After choice filling in WBJEE and verifying their options, candidates must print them out for later use.

How to Upgrade WBJEE College Preference for 2024?

The candidates can upgrade their college preferences following the Round 1 seat allocation. The candidates must log in on the assigned day to update their priority rankings and select other colleges. Candidates may also alter their preferred branch.

WBJEE Seat Distribution 2024

The WBJEE results were made public on 6th June 2024, and the WBJEE seat distribution will begin in July 2024 tentatively. A seat will be assigned based on each candidate's performance, preferences, and the number of seats available.

Applicants earning a GMR on the WBJEE can participate in the seat allocation process.

Procedure After WBJEE Choice Filling and Locking

After completing WBJEE choice filling and locking, candidates will receive the admission allotment. For admission to the colleges that recognize the WBJEE scores, aspirants must follow the steps mentioned here:

• Reporting to the college: Candidates must appear at the specified institution where they have been given a seat. While enrolled in the college, the candidates must have the allotment letter and other documentation. A candidate's candidacy may be revoked if they don't show up for their reporting.
• Fee Remittance: Following several rounds of allotments, candidates must submit payment of the admission fee to secure their admission. A failed fee transaction may also result in the cancellation of the seat and an invitation to apply for the same seat from the next allotment list.
