JEE Advanced Reservation 2025 gives equal access to students from all societal backgrounds. The mandated JEE Advanced 2025 reservation includes categories such as Gen-EWS, ST, SC, OBC, and PwD. The gen-EWS category has a 10% share of the total seat intake, OBC has 27%, SC has 15%, and ST has a 7.5% share.

Students are required to submit a caste certificate with their JEE Advanced Application Form 2025. Once submitted, the category for the reservation can be amended. Candidates must note the different authorities that grant these certificates.

Important Points for JEE Advanced 2025 Reservation Criteria

Candidates must be aware of any amendments in the JEE Advanced Reservation 2025 criteria. Students must know these criteria before the JEE Advanced Admissions 2025.

Some important points to consider for JEE Advanced 2025 reservations are:

  • The JEE Advanced reservation 2025 has been set by the Government of India.
  • Within each reserved category, 5% reservation is provided to PwD students horizontally.
  • Candidates in the “Creamy Layer (CL)” OBC category shall be processed according to the General category. 
  • CL candidates in the OBC category will be admitted for the General category seats.
  • SC/ST candidates shall only be eligible if their tribe or caste is mentioned in the Central List of Castes and Tribes, as mandated by GOI.

Reservation Criteria for Female Candidates JEE Advanced 2025

As proclaimed by the IIT council, the gender balance in UG programs in IIT should be improved. Thus, female candidates must consider a few things for the JEE Advanced Reservation Criteria 2025:

  • Female candidates will have 20% of supernumerary category seats.
  • The 20% of seats are on top of the non-female categories for JEE Advanced reservation. 
  • Female students who qualify for the JEE Advanced exam will be allocated seats.
  • According to the business rules of JoSAA 2025, the female category quota will be filled.

JEE Advanced Reservation Criteria 2025 for Foreign Candidates

If candidates apply for JEE Advanced admissions while they’re studying abroad, their status will be that of a foreign national. This also applies in case of high school education (10+2) in foreign countries. 

  • Foreign nationals are allotted supernumerary seats, with a limit of 10% of the total seat intake. 
  • Caste-based or otherwise seat reservation (SC/ST/OBC) does not apply to foreign nationals.
  • Candidates under the umbrella of “foreign nationals” can visit the official JEE Advanced website for more information.
  • Students are deemed as “foreign nationals” in cases of:
    • Prior or current education in India at high school level (10+2)
    • ALSO are not Indian citizens (due to birth or naturalization)
    • ALSO do not have a OCI/PIO card (neither do their parents, who ALSO are NOT Indian citizens by birth or naturalisation)

JEE Advanced Reservation 2025 for Defence Personnel

Defence personnel candidates are children of service military personnel, killed in action or disabled in action. Most IIT institutes initiate reservation of 2 seats under this category. Candidates must qualify and place in the JEE merit list to avail of this reservation.

JEE Advanced 2025 Reservation Criteria: Gen-EWS

Students considered under the following criteria can avail themselves of the JEE Advanced Reservation 2025 provision. Candidates not under SC/ST/OBC with a gross annual income of 8 LPA are identified as Gen-EWS candidates.

Candidates who cannot avail of the Gen-EWS quota fall under the following conditions:

  • Candidates' families who own agricultural land up to 5 acres and more.
  • Candidates with a residential flat amounting to 1,000 sq. ft. and more.
  • Parents of students with a residential plot of 100 sq. yards and more in official municipal areas.
  • Parents of students with a residential property of 200 sq. yards and more in sites other than official municipalities.

Official Authorities for Issuing Income and Asset Certificates

JEE Advanced Reservation Criteria 2025 for PwD Students

According to GOI, preference is given to the following candidates in the PwD (Person with Disability) category:

  • Candidates with 40% disability - visual, dyslexic, locomotive
  • Leprosy-cured candidates fit enough to attempt the JEE Advanced exam.

PwD candidates also have horizontal reservations in the following categories:

  • Open, i.e. GENERAL
  • Gen - EWS (Economically Weaker Section)
  • OBC - NCL (Non-Creamy Layer)
  • SC (Scheduled Caste)
  • ST (Scheduled Tribe)

Important Points for PwD Candidates

PwD candidates must submit the following documents in case of Dyslexia disorder:

  • The percentage of disability/handicap must not be less than 40%.
  • Candidates with permanent handicap are eligible for this category
  • The disability certificate must be issued by govt. Organisation

In some cases, a scribe may be appointed for ease of PwD candidates. It's applied to students who have a physical or learning disability, which affects their ability to write. Usually, scribes are appointed to read out the exam to the candidates. In return, the candidates recite the final answer. The scribe writes down these answers on the OMR sheet for evaluation. Students from Class 11 with PCM are appointed as scribes for JEE Advanced candidates. 

Important Points Before Appointing a Scribe

  • Students who have a permanent disability can avail the scribe facility. Disabilities include Dyslexia, visual impairment, and disabled fingers/hands/arms/upper limbs.
  • PwD category candidates can send a Scribe Request Form and their disability certificate/document to the JEE Advanced Chairman. The form is available during the registration process.
  • Zonal IITs shall provide the scribe for the PwD candidate.
  • The PwD candidate and scribe are introduced a day before the JEE Advanced exam.
  • If candidates do not require a scribe, their candidacy may stand cancelled.

Documents for JEE Advanced Reservation 2025 Verification

The following section outlines the documents required to process reserved category students. The reservation criteria for PwD, DS, OBC, SC, ST, OBC and Gen-EWS categories have been outlined.

1. Documents Required for All Categories

  • Class 10 mark sheet or birth certificate
  • Class 12 mark sheet (or equivalent) certificate
  • If the name does not match the certificate name, a newspaper advertisement notifying the name change officially.

2. Documents Required for Gen-EWS Students

  • A Gen-EWS certificate issued on or after Apr 1, 2022, issued per GOI mandates.
  • A Gen-EWS certificate declaring the category status can be submitted online if the candidate cannot collect it in person.

3. Documents Required for OBC-NCL Students

  • An OBC-NCL certificate issued on or after Apr 1, 2022, issued under GOI mandates.
  • An OBC-NCL certificate declaring the category status can be submitted online if the candidate cannot collect it in person.

4. Documents Required for SC/ST Students

Students must get a caste or tribe certificate issued, as mandated by GOI.

5. Documents Required for PwD Students

  • Physical Disability Certificate that a noted medical entity has issued
  • For dyslexic candidates, the form-Dyslexic 1 and 2 shall be submitted. The dyslexia category must say "Severe".

6. Documents Required for Defence Personnel

A competent GOI authority under the Directorate of Resettlement and Rehabilitation must issue the Form-DS.
