The full form of NIMHANS is the National Institute of Mental Health And Neuro Sciences. The Institute conducts examinations for the admission of various U.G, P.G and Doctoral courses. It has 26 Departments with skilled professionals and dedicated faculty. At the Undergraduate level, they offer Diploma and B.Sc programs in various streams. NIMHANS Eligibility Criteria 2023
The eligibility criteria of NIMHANS 2023 for different courses are as follows
For Medical Courses
- Candidates must have completed MBBS from a recognized university or equivalent as stated by NIMHANS and by The Medical Council of India.
- Candidates should have completed a compulsory internship of one year after MBBS or equivalent on or before the date of commencement of the course.
- Candidates must have completed MS / MD/ DPM / DNB from a recognized university or equivalent as stated by NIMHANS and by The Medical Council of India.
For Non-Medical Courses
- Candidates must have completed MA / M.Sc / MSW / BE / BAMS / B.Tech / B.Sc should have passed the requisite exam from a University recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) with not less than 55% marks in aggregate on or before the date of interview/admission.
Age Limit
- For Session 1 the age is calculated as of 1st July 2023
- For Session 2 the age is calculated as on 1st January 2023.
- For MBBS degree holders the age limit is 32 years.
- Age should not be more than 37 years for PG Medical degree holders.
- Candidates applying for M.Sc in Biostatistics have an age limit of 30 years.
- For candidates applying for B.Sc courses, the age limit is between 17 and 25 years.
NIMHANS Application Form 2023
The NIMHANS 2023 Entrance Exam application forms can be filled out from the official website only. You can find the application form in the Academics and Admission section. NIMHANS Exam Pattern 2023
Exam Pattern for DM in Neurology, M.Ch in Neurosurgery and MD in Psychiatry is given below:

15 days prior to the NIMHANS Entrance Exam, a Mock Test is also conducted on the official website. No marks will be deducted for unanswered questions.
NIMHANS Results 2023
Selection will be purely based on merit in the online entrance exam. A list of all the qualified candidates and those called for interview/admission in the order of merit will be notified on the official website and the Institute’s notice board. No separate individual intimation will be given.
Biometric verification will be performed for all the candidates who attend the interview.
Tie-breaking
In case two or more candidates obtain equal marks in the NIMHANS Entrance Exam then their merit will be determined by the following factors
- The number of attempts in the qualifying exam.
- In case the number of attempts is the same then the candidate who has secured the highest marks will be considered.
- If the marks are also the same then the age of the candidate will be considered. A person who is senior by age will be considered.

NIMHANS Admission 2023
Candidates who are selected under various categories need to submit their original certificates/documents on the day of admission. Candidates should also submit their Transfer Certificate and Migration Certificate at the time of admission.
Requisite Fee has to be paid through Debit card/ Credit card/ Demand Draft Only.
NIMHANS Selection Process 2023
Admission to the Institute is based on the performance of the candidate in the Online Entrance Exam followed by an Interview. Candidates need to obtain a minimum of 50% each in the Entrance Exam and Interview in order to be eligible for admission. Selection will be purely based on Merit.
NIMHANS entrance exam is conducted twice a year. The first session is held in the month of March and the second session is in October.
