FAQs on NMAT Cut Off
Q: What is meant by NMAT cutoff?
A: The NMAT cut off score is the minimal score or marks required to shortlist candidates for admission or admission rounds. Simply put, cutoff scores aid in the screening process, allowing candidates to be shortlisted for subsequent selection rounds such as the Group Discussion (GD)/Case Discussion (CD) and Personal Interview. The cut-off list is determined by each participating college; thus, the minimum marks/percentage required for selection varies amongst institutes.
Q: When is NMAT cutoff released?
A: The participating institutes release NMAT cutoff scores as part of the admissions process. Candidates must apply for the desired business school. Some of these institutions may or may not release NMAT cutoff scores. To learn more about the cutoff scores, candidates should visit the selected business school's official website. The overall NMAT cut-off level typically ranges between 150 and 280. More than 40 B-schools in India and over 20 international B-schools accept NMAT results for MBA admission. The cutoff scores and percentiles vary across participating business schools. In addition, some universities may seek admission based on both sectional and overall cutoff scores, whilst others may just consider the overall cutoff.
Q: Does GMAC release NMAT cutoff?
A: The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), which administers the NMAT exam, does not provide NMAT cutoff scores or percentiles. The NMAT participating institutes reveal the cutoff scores during the admissions process. For the NMAT exam, which takes place from October 10 to December 19, the MBA admission process at participating business schools normally begins in November. While some business schools undertake the NMAT-based MBA admissions procedure beginning in February of the next application cycle.
Q: How is NMAT cutoff score determined?
A: NMAT-participating institutes determine admission cutoff scores and shortlist students for subsequent admission rounds. The cutoff scores are determined by a variety of factors, including the previous year's cutoff scores, total applicants, total seats, candidate performance, and others. Typically, the participating institute will determine the NMAT cutoff marks based on the number of seats, total applicants, and the previous year's cutoff scores. The cutoff score may fluctuate depending on the demand-supply concept. More applications will result in a higher cutoff score. Conversely, a decrease in the number of applications can result in a lower cutoff score.
