JKCET Eligibility Details

JKCET eligibility criteria 2023 are framed by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examination (JK-BOPEE). This is for all applicants looking for admission in its 6 participating institutes. JKCET eligibility criteria 2023 provides detailed information about minimum requirements such as academic qualification and domicile criterion. All candidates must check JKCET eligibility keenly. Moreover, all aspirants must fulfil every element of the framed criteria before applying and attempting the exam.

JKCET Eligibility Criteria 2023

Any candidate applying for JKCET 2023 must be a domicile of either the Jammu and Kashmir or the Ladakh region. The candidate needs to have a basic academic qualification of 10+2 or equivalent certification to be eligible for the exam. A minimum of 50% of the score in the same is necessary however in the case of a member from the SC/ ST/ OBC community the applicant is subject to a relaxation of 10% in their scores. Domicile A candidate must be a permanent resident of Jammu & Kashmir State.
Age Limit Every aspirant must be at least 17 years old on 31st December 2023. There is no upper age limit to apply for this exam.
Qualifying Examination The candidates should have completed 10+2 with a minimum of 50% marks.
Subjects in Qualifying Exam All test-takers must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as their elective subjects.
Aggregate Relaxation Applicants belonging to the open category must have an aggregate of 50%. The same applies to students whose parents are serving in State Police, Defence, and Para-Military Forces and also to Candidates possessing outstanding proficiency in Sports. The minimum eligibility Aggregate mark is 40% for SC/ST and Other Backward Candidates.

JKCET Eligibility

After an aspirant has found that he or she has fulfilled the framed eligibility criteria, he or she can apply through JKCET application form. Documents uploaded in it must be valid as students have to bring them during document verification. 

  • Nationality: Candidates must be permanent residents of Jammu & Kashmir or Ladakh as the case may be. No foreign students are eligible to apply for JKCET. 
  • Age Criteria: Each applicant must have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December 2023 to satisfy the age eligibility criterion for attempting JKCET Exam. There is no upper age limit for aspirants applying for the exam as per the prescribed JKCET eligibility criteria 2023.
  • No of attempts: A candidate can attempt JKCET any number of times according to his/her wish as long as they're within the age limit as prescribed by the conducting authority.
  • Education Qualification: A test-taker must have passed 10+2 grade in school education to satisfy the eligibility criteria for attempting JKCET Exam.
  • Subjects: All test-takers must have completed 12th Grade with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English as subjects. He or she must have completed it from a recognized Board or the University of Jammu and Kashmir to fulfil the eligibility criteria for JKCET.
  • Aggregate marks: A general category student must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in English, Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics. This is set as the eligibility criteria by BOPEE for JKCET.
  • Reservation Category: The SC and ST candidates must have secured a minimum of 40% marks in the same subjects.

Reservation for JKCET

If a candidate fails to upload the specified certificates during JKCET Application process or the certificate is found invalid, then they will be treated as an Open Merit Candidate during JKCET admission process.

  • Certificates: Applicants who are seeking admission through JKCET reservation scheme will have to upload the attested copy of the valid reserved category certificate. Only then they will fulfil the eligibility criteria for JKCET Exam.
  • Seat allocation: The seats under the central pool will be allocated to aspirants on the basis of their merit. Therefore students with higher ranks have more chances of getting a seat in their desired college. Only JKCET qualified candidates will be considered for allotment of seats.
  • Proof: An affidavit that no other member of the family has got the benefited from this category is to be submitted by candidates. This is required for aspirants who are seeking JKCET admission through Central Pool seats.
