The Nagaland Board of Secondary Education (NBSE) follows a nine-point grading system ranging from A1 to E1. The NBSE HSLC examination is conducted in 100 marks and one needs to score a minimum of 33% in both theory and practical exams separately.

NBSE HSLC Grading System 2025

The NBSE HSLC follows a nine-point grading system. The grading system ranges from A1 to E1. ‘A1’ is the highest grade, whereas ‘E1’ is the lowest. NBSE HSLC Passing Marks 2025

The NBSE HSLC Examination will be held in 5 major subjects: English (1st language ), 2nd language( Ao, Tenyidie, Sumi, Lotha, Bengali, Hindi, or Alternative English)i, Social Science, Science, and Mathematics along with one additional subject. The additional subjects include bookkeeping,  Accountancy, Environmental Education, Home Science, Foundation of Information Technology (FIT), and Music.  Students need to choose one from the given subjects.

One needs to score a minimum of 33% in each subject both in theory and practical examination. To pass a subject, a student needs to score a minimum of 26.4 marks out of 80 in the theory exam and 6.6 marks out of 20 in internal assessments, totaling 33 marks.

NBSE Revaluation and Supplementary Examination 2025

NBSE allows their students to reappear for examinations if they are dissatisfied with their results. Students need to apply for the revaluation exam in an online mode. One needs to send an email to the Nagaland board in order to apply for a revaluation exam. A payment of Rs 500 needs to be made per subject for the scrutiny process. The scrutiny process is held in the month of May.

It is mandatory for all students to score a minimum of 33% across all subjects to pass the examination. Those who can't score the minimum marks in one or two subjects have to appear for the compartmental exams that are tentatively held in the month of June. The admit card and date sheet of the supplementary exams are released online. So it is recommended to visit the website often.
