Passing marks are 33% for the UPMSP exam, in case of every subject. Each subject comprises 100 marks, out of which one needs to secure 33% to qualify. The total marks for the UP board 10th examination are 100, out of which 70 marks incorporate theory and 30 for practical.
The examinations are held once a year approximately around Feb/March. The examinations last for 3hr 15 mins. The question paper carries Mcqs, short and long question answers. The system comprises grades ranging from A1 to E2. Students scoring 90% and above in each subject fall under A1 grade in every subject.
The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad is responsible for determining and establishing Up Board 10th grading system for board exam evaluation to assess students’ learning and skills. Qualifying students are promoted to the next class based on the score proposed by the UP Board 10th grading system.
According to the CCE Evaluation criteria, if a candidate fails to pass two subjects then he/she can appear for the compartment exam. There's also such provision that if the candidate is unsuccessful in clearing 3 subjects, then they can appear only 3 subjects in the coming academic year.

Students shall check on the grades of each subject according to the marks scored. To calculate the overall grade, sum up the grade points and divide them by the total number of subjects.
This is the Cumulative Grading Point Average. Now to get the percentage, multiply the CGPA by 9.5 for an approximation percentage. After calculation, add all the grade points and divide the grade points with the total number of subjects and the final value obtained by calculation will be the UP board GPA.

In instances, where the candidate is unable to pass two examinations he/she has to appear for the compartment examinations. Students can improve their scores in case they've obtained less than the required marks through supplementary examinations. The grading scale varies from A1 to E based on the marks obtained by the students.
The cumulative grade point average (CGPA) is the reflector of the overall performance of the students. Marks scored by students in the practical examination are also added to the final mark sheet.

The UPMSP exams are scheduled between Feb 24 - Mar 12, 2025. The examinations are conducted in two shifts morning and evening. The result is expected to be announced in April by UPMSP.
