Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) conducts 10th exams yearly in which lakhs of students appear. The Maharashtra SSC passing marks remain the same every year.

The Maharashtra SSC passing marks system may include variations for different subjects, as per the grading system, and separate criteria for theory and practical exams. The passing marks are generated based on combined theory and practical exams. If students score equal to or more than the passing marks,  they are considered to have passed and receive a passing certificate.

The board also provides condonation marks to students who fall short of 2 or 3 marks in the Maharashtra SSC Exam 2025. Such students do not have to appear for compartment exams or supplementary exams.

Maharashtra SSC Passing Marks 2025 Subject-Wise

The passing marks in most of the subjects including Hindi, Science, and Social Science are 35 marks out of 100 marks. Below is a list of subjects with passing and maximum marks are shown.

Maharashtra SSC 2025 Passing Marks Criteria

Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education set the passing criteria for SSC students.  Below are some criteria set forth by MSBSHSE. 

  • The minimum grade secured by each student in optional and main subjects is C.
  • A minimum of 35% marks are required in optional subjects so that their passing certificate can be issued.
  • A minimum of 35 marks are required out of a total of 100 marks in language papers and social science to be eligible for a passing certificate.
  • Mathematics and Science theory papers are conducted for 150 marks. 52 marks are passing marks in both these subjects that are mandatory to secure to be considered a pass.
  • For subjects that have more than one practical or paper, the marks will be added together to be considered a pass in the subject.

Maharashtra SSC Condonation Policy

According to Maharashtra SSC condonation policy, students who fall short of 2 or 3 marks are granted grace marks allowing them to pass so that they do not have to re-appear for the exam again.

Maharashtra SSC Passing Marks 2025: Essential Guidelines

Following are essential guidelines that students need to remember.

  • Students will be provided the marks that are required for passing the subject. No additional marks will be provided under the condonation policy.
  • Students who have participated in state, national, or international sports tournaments will be provided 20 grace marks in a particular subject.
  • Grace marks of up to 20% are provided to students who have participated in the Republic Day parade. Other students will get only 10% grace marks.
  • Students who still fail even after adding 20% grace marks on matching any of the above criteria will fail to qualify for automatic condonation marks.

Maharashtra SSC Grading System 2025

In the Maharashtra SSC grading system, percentages above 75% are considered as distinction and below 35% as fail. Below is a representation of the Maharashtra SSC grading system. Students can check their grades as per the percentages obtained or vice versa.

  • From the previous year's results, it is clear that girls have consistently performed better in Maharashtra SSC results.
  • The passing percentage has remained above 90% in the previous year.
  • The results were 99%, which is the highest percentage in previous trends in the year 2021, the country was facing a COVID-19 pandemic, because of which exams were canceled and students were given marks based on internal assessments.
