MBOSE SSLC Grading System 2025: The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) formulates the MBOSE 10th grading system 2025, which consists of a 4-point grading scale. The grades in the Meghalaya grading system range from A to D, where A signifies the highest marks and D the lowest. 

The board conducts the Secondary School Leaving Certificate exam for class 10 students, which is equivalent to the Secondary School Certificate exam. The grades are awarded based on students' performance in the MBOSE SSLC exam.

A grade is awarded to the students scoring 75% marks or above, and a B grade is awarded to the students who score between 60% marks to 75% marks. Students who score 50 to 60% are awarded the grade C, and with 35% to 50% marks, students are awarded the grade D.

The grades are awarded after the marks obtained in theory as well as practical exams. In the class 10 board examination, the students are required to score a minimum of 30% marks in each subject to pass the exam. The criteria are for the theory as well as the practical examination ( for applicable subjects ), along with the overall aggregate marks.

MBOSE SSLC Exam Pattern

The MBOSE is responsible for setting the MBOSE SSLC exam pattern. Students must go through the pattern and syllabus thoroughly to prepare well for the examination. The marking scheme is also released with the exam pattern and the syllabus by the MBOSE. 

There are a total of 5 main subjects, and 1 additional subject is there. The maximum number of marks for each subject is 100. 

  • The English exam is conducted for an 80-mark theory paper, and 20 marks are for internal/practical marks. That accounts for a total of 100 marks.
  • Additional language paper- English/ Indian language exam is conducted for a theory of 80 marks and 20 marks are for internal/ practical marks.
  • The mathematics exam is conducted for 80 marks with 20 marks for practical or internal assessment in addition.
  • A science and technology exam is conducted for an 80-mark theory paper and 20 20-mark internal/ practical exam.
  • A social science exam is also conducted for an 80-mark theory paper, and 20 marks are for practical/ internal assessment.
  • Health education/ computer science exam is conducted for 80 marks for theory and 20 marks for practical/ internal assessment.
  • Other vocational subjects such as tourism, IT, Beauty and wellness, ITED, Healthcare, agriculture, and electronics exams are conducted for 30 marks in theory, and 50 marks in practical, and 20 marks in internal assessment. Accounting for a total of 100 marks.

MBOSE SSLC Passing Criteria 2025

The evaluation of marks consists of two components: theory and internal assessment. For subjects containing 100 marks in total, 80 marks theory paper and 20 marks are reserved for the internal assessment. To pass the exam, a student must score at least 24 marks out of 80 and 6 marks out of 20 in the internal assessment. 

MBOSE SSLC Subject-wise Overall Passing Marks

Listed are the required subject-wise marks to clear the MBOSE SSLC examination 2025.

  • English - 30/100
  • Second Language- 30/100
  • Science - 30/100
  • Social Science - 30/100
  • Mathematics - 30/100
  • Health Education/ Computer Science - 30/100
  • Vocational Subjects - 30/100

This is the passing criteria for the overall total marks, i.e, out of 100, for the mentioned subjects. 

Passing Marks for Theory

A student needs to score at least 24 marks in every subject out of a total of 80 marks to pass the subject. 

Passing Criteria for Internal Assessment

A student is required to score a minimum of 6 marks out of 20 marks to secure the subject. If any student fails in securing the passing marks mentioned for every subject, then he/she has to appear for the MBOSE SSLC compartment exam, held soon after the declaration of the MBOSE SSLC exam result. 

The board follows a grading system based on the students' performance and the marks scored. 4 grades are awarded: A, B, C and D. A is the highest and D is the lowest. A student who fails to secure a minimum grade will have to appear for the compartment exam.

Certification Criteria for MBOSE SSLC Exam

The SSLC exam is for class 10 students. A minimum of 33% marks in aggregate both in practical (in applicable subjects) and theory is required to pass the examination. Internal assessment marks are also mentioned in the mark sheet, but separately. 

The certificate will be provided to those who pass in 5 subjects, including at least one language, but not more than two languages. 

Meghalaya SSLC Supplementary Examination

This is an opportunity for those who failed to secure minimum passing marks in the MBOSE SSLC exam. As soon as the result for the MBOSE SSLC exam is released, the board shares updates regarding the supplementary exam. There is an application form for the same, and students need to fill it out to appear for the examination. The students are requested to register themselves through their respective schools. A nominal fee is also to be paid against each subject you're filling the form for.  Students are required to stay updated with the notifications.
