The Karnataka 2nd PUC (Pre-University Course) exams are ongoing from March 1 to 25, 2025. In plain language, the 2nd PUC exams are also called class 12th exams. The students who are unable to secure a minimum of 35% marks in a subject will have to appear in the supplementary paper. The compartment/supplementary exams will be held in May 2025. The results for such exams will be declared in June 2025.

Karnataka 2nd PUC passing marks for each subject are 35%, which means 35 marks out of 100. This criterion of 35% applies to both theory and practical exams separately. Hence, to be declared as pass in a subject, a student must secure at least 35% marks in the theory paper and 35% marks in the practical paper.
In some subjects, the ratio of theory and practical paper is 80:20 and in a few subjects, this ratio is 70:30. The maximum total marks for a subject is 100. If the theory and practical paper is in the ratio of 80:20, then a student must secure at least 28 marks in the theory exam and 7 marks in the practical exam. But if the theory and practical paper is in the ratio of 70:30 then one must get at least 24 marks in the theory paper and 11 marks in the practical paper. The students who are unable to secure a minimum of 35% marks in a subject will have to appear in the supplementary exam.

In Karnataka 2nd PUC grading system, the highest grade is A+ which indicates a mark range of 90 to 100. The minimum passing mark in each subject is 35. Hence, a student must obtain at least a C grade to pass (marks range of 35 to 49). If a candidate scores below 35 marks in a subject, then he/she will be declared fail (D grade). The focus of every student should be to secure the best possible marks in every subject. In case a student fails in a subject, then he/she will have to appear in the supplementary exam.
