MBSE HSLC Passing Marks

The minimum percentage required to pass the MBSE 10th Examination is 33. To qualify, one needs to pass both the theory and the practical sections separately. There are five main subjects: English, Mizo or an alternative language (for non-Mizo students), Mathematics, Science, and Social Science, along with one elective subject.

Below is the list of Elective subjects that a candidate can opt for based on their preferences :

  • Bookkeeping & Accountancy
  • Introductory Information Technology (IIT)
  • Home Science
  • Civics
  • Commercial Studies
  • Music
  • Health & Physical Education

The elective subject varies from school to school, depending on the resources available in the institution. For subjects that follow the 80+20 marking scheme, one needs to score 26 in theory and 7 in practical /internal examination. For science, it differs; it follows the 70+30 marking scheme where the passing mark is 23 in theory and 10 in practical.

MBSE HLSC Grace Marks

The Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) offers grace marking to those students who fall short of the passing mark, which is 33%.

  • If a student is short by 1–2 marks in any subject, they may be awarded up to 2 grace marks per subject to help them pass.
  • If a student fails in just one subject, they may receive grace marks up to 12 to pass the examination
  • If a student fails in two subjects, and the total marks they are short of across both subjects is 12 or less, those marks can be split between the two to help them pass.

These grace marks are meant to give students a second chance when they're very close to the passing mark without compromising the exam's standards.

Condition Grace Marks Allowed Purpose
Failing by 1–2 marks in any subject Up to 2 marks per subject To help pass if slightly short of passing marks
Failing in one subject 12 marks in total for that subject To allow passing in a single subject when the shortfall is significant
Failing in two subjects 12 marks distributed across both subjects To assist in passing two subjects when the combined shortfall is ≤ 12 marks

MBSE HSLC Result Revaluation and Compartment Exam

MBSE allows its student to re-evaluate their marks if they are not satisfied with their results. A student can apply for Revaluation by visiting the official website of MBSE and has to pay 500 rupees per subject. Students should be aware that Revaluation marks are final and can't be changed.

Students who can't score the minimum percentage of 33 in one or more subjects have to appear for the MBSE HSLC compartment exam. The compartment exam will be held in June 2025, shortly after the declaration of the main results. The MBSE HSLC compartment results will tentatively come out in July 2025.
