In the HPBOSE 12th grading system, the highest grade awarded to students is A, and the lowest grade awarded is E2. Students who are given E1 or E2 grades are considered to have failed in that subject. The passing grade is D, which corresponds to 33 to 40 marks. 

In the HPBOSE 12th exam, students are awarded marks, grades, and grade points. Based on overall percentages, too, students are awarded grades and remarks. A is awarded when the percentage scored by the student is in the range of 80 to 100% with remarks as outstanding, B grade is awarded to students who have obtained percentages in the range of 65  to 79% with remarks given as very good.

In the HPBOSE 12th grading system, each subject is awarded a grade based on the combined performance of students in theory and practical exams. HPBOSE 12th Passing Marks 2025

In the HPBOSE 12th exam, practical and theory exams are conducted separately, and so are their maximum and passing marks. The practical exams of a few subjects include internal assessments, projects, and group activities. To be declared as passed in a subject, candidates have to secure passing marks in both practical and theory exams.

HPBOSE 12th Passing Marks in Theory

The HPBOSE 12th exam for theory is conducted of 80 marks for most of the subjects except for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, which are conducted of 60 marks. Out of 80 maximum marks, 26 are the marks, and out of 60 maximum marks, 19 are the passing marks. HPBOSE 12th passing marks in practical exams for subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are 14 out of 40 maximum marks. The passing marks in practical exams for other subjects like English, Mathematics, and others are 6 out of 20 maximum marks. Below is a table shown for the reference of students.

The HPBOSE 12th grading system has a division classification based on percentages obtained by students. Students who score 75% and above are given distinction marks, and those who score below 33% are considered failed. For the reference of students, a table is mentioned below.

Students appearing for the HPBOSE 12th exam must be aware of the HPBOSE 12th exam pattern. Below are some highlights of the HPBOSE exam pattern mentioned.

  • The HPBOSE 12th exam of all the subjects is conducted of 100 marks and for 3 hours 15 minutes.
  • The exam is conducted in offline mode.
  • In the science stream, the core subjects include Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. Each subject has certain important topics which are given high weightage in the exam. Likewise, the commerce stream has Accountancy, Business Studies, and Economics as core subjects.

HPBOSE 12th Grading System: Compartment Exam

The HPBOSE 12th compartment exam is conducted for students who couldn't secure passing marks in one or two subjects. Students have to apply for this exam by completing the registration process and filling out the application form. 

The mark sheet of students who are appearing in compartment exams is released once this exam is over. In the mark sheet, the revised marks of students will be mentioned for which they appear for the compartment exam.
