The HBSE 10th grading system 2025 works based on a 9-point scale. As per the HBSE 10th time table 2025, the Haryana Board of School Education is conducting the class 10th exams from February 28 to March 19, 2025. The grades in this system range from A1 to E.

HBSE 10th Grading System 2025: Grade-Wise Marks
HBSE 10th Grading System is a 9-point scale system. In this system, the highest grade is A1 and the lowest grade is E. A student must obtain at least a D1 grade to pass in a particular subject (the marks range for a D1 grade is 33 to 40). The pass percentage for each subject is 33%. A student must score at least 33% in both the practical and the theory parts separately.
If a student scores in the range of 91 – 100 then an A1 grade will be awarded. Those who fail to get a D1 grade will have to reappear for the respective subjects in the HBSE 10th compartment exam. Whereas, if the score is between 0 – 32 an E or D2 grade will be awarded, which means fail.

HBSE 10th Grading System 2025: Examination Scheme
The total marks for every subject is 100. The weightage of practical paper may vary from 20 to 60 marks depending on the subject. In some subjects, there is no practical exam, but in all the subjects, Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation will be there.
The weightage of CCE (Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation) is 20 marks for each subject. The 5 compulsory subjects are Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science. HBSE 10th Grading System 2025: Key Points
Students must know the basic rules and regulations regarding the 10th HBSE exam. It will help them to get clarity about the board pattern. Here are some chief points that will broaden the perspective –
- A student must obtain 33% marks in a subject to be declared as a pass. The rule of 33% applies to both the theory and practical paper.
- The certificate of qualification will only be provided if a student passes in all the 5 compulsory subjects. These subjects are Science, Social Science, English, Mathematics, and Hindi.
- Students also have to choose a 6th optional subject (of one’s own choice).
- While calculating the grade points, 6 subjects will be seen. The final grade will be decided based on the best 5 scoring subjects. Hence, the subject with the lowest marks will not be counted while determining the final grade.
- Students who are short of passing marks by 1% in one or more subjects may be awarded grace marks. This rule is meant for qualifying purposes and the objective is not to improve the grade of the student.
- If a student fails in the practical exam then he/she will be required to reappear for such exam. Furthermore, if a student fails a theory paper then he/she must appear in the compartment exam.
The purpose is not to improve the grades of students. The main ideology is related to qualifying criteria. Students must put in their best effort for the HBSE class Xth exam and it will surely pave the way to success.
