Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has given precise passing standards for Class 12 students, so they must show a minimum skill level in every subject. To pass the PSEB 12th exams, a student has to get at least 33% of the maximum marks in each subject. This standard applies to both the theory and practical parts individually. If a student is unable to get the minimum marks in any subject, they will be declared unsuccessful for that subject and could be required to appear for supplementary (compartment) exams to get a better score.
The PSEB 12th grading system 2025 is intended to motivate students to concentrate on steady learning instead of cramming. By establishing a minimum passing grade for theory and practicals, the PSEB Board ensures that students gain conceptual knowledge as well as practical skills. The system also assists in ensuring fair assessment standards across various subjects, ensuring that students are adequately prepared for higher education and career prospects.

The PSEB 12th Grading System 2025 is based on a marks-to-grade conversion. Each course is marked independently, and a grade is awarded to students on the basis of their aggregate marks.
The topmost grade, A+ (10 grade points), is given to students who achieve 91-100 marks, whereas the lowest passing grade, C (5 grade points), is awarded to students who achieve 41-50 marks. Any mark less than 40 marks leads to a D grade (4 grade points) and failure.

The most significant effect of the grading system is on opportunities in higher education. Most universities and colleges look at grades and grade points rather than raw percentages while considering admission applications. Students with better grades, e.g., A+ (91-100 marks) or A (81-90 marks), are more likely to get seats in elite institutions.
Scholarships and financial aid schemes also have grade points as eligibility criteria, so students need to achieve higher grade points. The PSEB 12th Grading System 2025 also contributes to the smoothing of cutoffs in competitive courses such as engineering, medicine, and law so as to select candidates fairly.
Q: What is the PSEB 12th grading system?
A: The PSEB 12th grading system gives grades on the basis of marks obtained in each subject. The grades vary from A+ (91-100 marks) to D (less than 40 marks). Grade points are also awarded, with A+ being 10 grade points and D being failure.
Q: What are the passing marks for PSEB 12th exams?

Q: How is the CGPA determined in the PSEB 12th grading system?
A: Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is calculated by averaging the grade points across all subjects. For example, if a student gets 9 grade points in three subjects, the CGPA will be (9+9+9)/3 = 9.
Q: How to view my PSEB 12th results?
A: You can view your PSEB 12th results by going to the official PSEB result website at https://results.pseb.ac.in/ and submitting your roll number and other necessary details.

Q: Can I obtain a scholarship with good marks in PSEB 12th exams?
A: Yes, high-grade students (A+ or A) in the PSEB 12th exams are eligible for different scholarships offered by the state government and educational institutions. Scholarships are usually grade point-based.
