Candidates appearing for the HPSOS board exam will be examined through written and practical evaluations. Students can check the HPSOS syllabus 2024 and the marking scheme of studies for the upcoming examination on the board's official website. Practical and oral tests, unless otherwise specified, should be carried out by the examiners appointed by the HP board or any other authority approved by the board.

Wherever practical work is prescribed in the HPSOS 2024 syllabus for any subject, a solid record of such work done by each candidate in the format specified by the board shall be duly maintained and attested by the head of the Institution. In addition, written tests in a subject will be conducted through question papers given to every exam center at which the examination is being held.

Steps to Download HPSOS Syllabus 2024

Students from classes 10th and 12th must follow the steps mentioned to download the HPSOS syllabus 2024:

• Step 1: Visit the official website of HPSOS.
• Step 2: Click on the "Downloads" option in the primary menu of the home page.
• Step 3: Click on the "Syllabus" section in the "Downloads" drop-down menu.
• Step 4: On the syllabus page, find the "Matric/Plus Two Syllabus" section and click on the required subject link.
• Step 5: Download and save the HPSOS 2024 syllabus PDF files for further reference.

HPSOS Additional Subjects Criteria

Candidates who clear the class 12th exams can offer additional subjects as the private candidate that are provided in the scheme of studies. However, the candidate shall not be allowed to select subjects involving practical/project work except for Home Science. 

Additional Subjects for those candidates who have Diploma certificate must meet the following criteria:

1. Candidate should have passed diploma course from any government polytechnic or government recognized privately managed Polytechnic institute of HP to appear in two additional subjects
2. English subject is compulsory
3. Mathematics or any other elective subject other than practical involving.
4. If the candidate passes both the subjects on the first attempt, he/she will be issued the certificate in both subjects. 
5.  Any candidate who fails in one subject shall have the opportunity to appear in subsequent examinations in June and March of the succeeding year in that subject in which the candidate fails. If passed, he/she will be issued the certificate in both subjects
6. If a candidate fails in his/her third chance, they will have to appear in both subjects as a fresh candidate in the upcoming year.

HPSOS Medium of Examination:

(i) Medium for English shall be English except for passage of English shall be translated into Hindi.

(ii) Medium for the paper in Sanskrit will be Hindi. 

(iii) Medium for papers in other languages shall be the language concerned.

(iv) Medium for Senior Secondary Classes for the subjects of Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics shall be English.

(v) Medium for all other examinations and subjects shall be Hindi or English.
