The Conditions for CBSE Class 12 Supplementary Exams

The students who get a fail remark (less than 33%) in one or two subjects, but have a passing remark in the rest of the subjects, are required to appear for the CBSE class 12 supplementary exams. Hence, it is a chance for the candidates to clear the failed subjects. Supplementary exams allow the students to pass the subjects without repeating an additional year.

If a student fails in 3 or more subjects, then he/she will have to repeat the 12th class. Hence, the supplementary exam criterion is for a maximum of 2 subjects. Students who are unable to qualify for the CBSE class 12 supplementary exams will be declared failed by the board. Thus, such candidates will again have to appear for the board exams next year.

In case, a student was originally declared passed in a practical paper but failed in the theory paper, then he/she will be required to appear only for the supplementary theory paper.
